Fhitting Room provides the perfect fix for any HIIT and strength junkie, combining air bikes, rowers and Ski-Ergs with a range of strength kit for a great all-round workout. Throw in lively and energetic coaches into the mix who know when to step in and adjust form, and you have one of New York's finest class concepts.

One thing’s for sure, the team at Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) are all 100% dedicated to making sure everyone has a great experience.

Each workout offers the trademark OTF run, row, and strength components. There’s a lot of action in each class between the heart rate monitor screen, the custom-built interactive screens on the treadmill and rower, and the screens showing the strength workout.

Orangetheory understands this and does a solid job of ensuring newcomers to the concept know what's going on and what everything means. The Manhattan-Plaza District branch stood out for having a very caring and friendly coach who gave extra attention to first timers before, during, and after the session, and made sure they felt comfortable and looked-after.

On any given day, each F45 across the world offers the same workout, which has been crafted by the team at F45 HQ.

This offers a well-structured and consistent workout, but whilst F45 delivers the formula, it’s on each location's team and coaches to build connection and an incredible experience. In this area, F45 Lower East Side was one of the best we visited.

The Lower East Side branch was exceptional across the board, with friendly reception staff kicking off the visit in the right way, followed by the kind of knowledgeable and encouraging coach that every club should strive to have.

F45 offers a mix of cardio and strength-based circuit training workouts, displayed on screens across the studio in an easy-to-follow and lively format.

Address 211 N 11th St, Brooklyn, NY 11211

Looking for a top strength studio in Brooklyn? MADabolic offers one of New York’s best strength sessions and is a must-try if you’d like to get serious about lifting.

Outside of the class, the reception team was very personable and thoroughly explained exactly what we needed to know and should expect from the main event - the class itself.

The workout experience was well-structured and expertly coached by an enthusiastic and attentive instructor. Workout programs at MADabolic are pre-planned in advance in 2-week ‘microcycles’ by co-founders Brandon Cullen and Kirk DeWaele, with the aim of delivering the diverse yet consistent training style that they’re known for.

Rise Nation NoHo

Address 676 Broadway, New York, NY 10012

Versaclimbers have made a big comeback in recent years, in large part due to the success of Rise Nation - a 30-minute climbing concept that’s attracted the likes of Lebron James and Jennifer Aniston.

Our instructor at Rise Nation NoHo made a great first impression by not only asking our name, but how we preferred to be addressed. What followed was a blend of pulsating, high-energy climbing sets combined with personalized and positive coaching. Picture yourself in a dark room with club-like lights and sound, guided by a motivating instructor slash DJ who's pushing your limits as you climb to new heights.

The class may only be 30 minutes, but it packed a punch that earned it our 5-Star Class Experience award and fully lived up to their slogan, 'It’s more than fitness, it’s an experience.’

Rise Nation NoHo won The Fit Guide 4-Star Award and our highest 5-Star Class Experience Award.

Liftonic

Address 13 Gansevoort St, New York, NY 10014

The inspiration for LIFTONIC was to offer a ‘fresh alternative in a fitness world dominated by high-intensity cardio-based workouts’, and this is consistent with our in-person experience at the studio. The workout was a nice change of pace from the heart-pounding sweat sessions, offering more slow, deliberate, and loaded movements.

The coach expertly catered the class to all experience levels, all while maintaining a fun, positive attitude and providing a lot of care and attention to each client. Our evaluator liked the balance between taking strength work seriously, whilst ensuring the environment was inclusive and supportive.

Whether you’re starting out your strength training journey or are just looking for a change of environment, LIFTONIC is a great option.

LIFTONIC won The Fit Guide 4-Star Award and our highest 5-Star Class Experience Award.
