We were guided by a friendly, attentive instructor who met us as we arrived, before taking us through a flow of both cardio and slower paced movements. She radiated a positive energy, kept her energy high throughout and connected with the members before and after the session.

Humming Puppy is an Australian yoga brand that's made an impact on the New York scene since its 2018 launch. Each class projects their signature 'hum' that is omitted during the class at a particular frequency that enhances and enriches the experience. The hum, combined with a beautiful space, contribute to a special and relaxing class.

During our visit to their New York location, the knowledgeable instructors and friendly reception staff combined to offer a sensual and personalized experience.

Y7 Studio Flatiron

Y7 is a fresh, fun yoga brand with a distinctive and refreshing feel. At Y7 Studio you can expect an accessible class that uses less technical and traditional yoga terms, along with candle lit rooms, supportive coaches and a range of hip hop and other beats to create a modern feel.

Their 'no mirror' policy helps you lose yourself in the tunes and focus on the practice.

bodē nyc Flatiron

Bodē nyc is an independently-owned, female-led studio that has been serving up hot yoga for over two decades, making it one of New York’s most established and longest-serving. Bodē also offers Vinyasa, Yin and elements of HIIT to complement the hot yoga practice that they’re famous for, across three Manhattan-based locations.

During our visit to their Flatiron studio we found the experience smooth and effective, led by a knowledgeable instructor.

Modo Yoga West Village

Modo Yoga has branches across North America and even a location in Paris, but they proudly stand for individuality, stating that each studio has a unique look and feel. Their practice is underpinned by six pillars, including accessibility, health, peace and being respectful of our planet.

Our evaluation team visited their single Manhattan studio in West Village and discovered a friendly team, a well-structured class and lots of natural light.

Souk

Whether you're just getting started, rehabilitating an injury, wanting to deepen your practice, or simply just trying to wind down, Souk has a session for you

Our visit to the Souk studio was led by a competent and knowledgeable instructor with a nicely designed studio, with the disco ball being a particularly fun touch!

Souk scored a Recommended rating for the overall experience and also Recommended for the class experience.

Sky Ting Yoga - Noho

SKY TING Yoga, founded in 2015 in New York’s Chinatown, blends movement, art, and design with the aim of creating a unique and accessible yoga experience. With a cult following, studio expansions, international retreats, and the launch of digital platform SKY TING TV, they’ve built a community centered on high-quality teaching, longevity, and self-care.

During our incognito visit to their Noho club, our instructor demonstrated sound yoga knowledge, seamlessly integrating Sanskrit terms and philosophy into the session. Their warm and calm presence fostered a welcoming community-focused atmosphere. The class flowed smoothly, with well-structured progressions and regressions to cater to all ability levels.

While the experience catered well to seasoned participants, a more intentional approach to engaging first-timers could enhance inclusivity. Overall, the coach’s expertise and the studio’s strong community made for an enriching practice.
