The Row House Story

Row House was founded in 2014 by Eric Von Frohlich and Debra Strougo in the Columbus Circle Neighborhood of New York. Drawing from their experience running two Crossfit studios, the couple had a vision of a concept that was low-impact, effective, and could be enjoyed by all ability levels.

That vision became Row House, and they’re now the largest indoor rowing brand in the world with over 90 franchise studios open and over 300 licensed locations. Row House is available for franchise under the Xponential Fitness group of brands.

What To Expect From A Row House Session

Row House is the world’s biggest boutique brand for one of the most effective forms of low-impact cardio exercise, rowing. Using the professional, industry-standard Concept 2 rowers, Row House combines this popular machine with elements of weight training to bring you a full body cardio and strength session. The rowers use technology that offers a wealth of data, which Row House collects and presents to you during the class, as well as in an email summary afterward.

Row House focuses on the powerful energy that’s created when the class rows together on the beat of the music, guided by motivating instructors who are knowledgeable on technique and form. You even have class goals that you can achieve together, such as total meters rowed.

Dim the lights, turn the music up, and get ready for a 45-minute row session that builds strength, endurance, and confidence.

The Reception Service

The reception staff gave off a friendly and relaxed vibe, helping our evaluators feel at ease and comfortable during their visit. After the visit, the staff could have been more thorough in their explanation of the packages and options to continue training.

The Class Experience

Row House E 34th has received The Fit Guide’s Rated score for its class experience.

Our evaluators enjoyed the tech-based element, which was explained clearly and comprehensively. The coach was clearly knowledgeable on rowing technique and form but could have made a stronger attempt to connect with us and personalize the session. Our class also started and finished late.

The Equipment And Studio

The dim lighting, pumping music, and numerous branding elements created a high-end space for our session. Despite being a little worn in places, we were impressed with the studio.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The reception and waiting area had interesting designs on the walls which offered a strong sense of brand. This was complemented by a nice range of Row House merchandise. The changing room and shower room was clean and functioned well, but the facilities were limited with only one room available for both changing and showering.

Workout and shower towels were provided free of charge. Lockers were provided with number locks. Free water refill stations were available.

Digital And Technology

Our evaluator loved the in-class technology that was offered, which displayed statistics and metrics for the class. The instructor gave us targets to aim for such as how many meters we had rowed as a group.

After the class, an email was sent detailing how we did during the class and our ‘lifetime stats’, such as how many meters we rowed in all our classes. These were a welcome addition that both motivated and offered something different to the experience.

Pricing

Row House offers a ‘buy one get one’ promo on their website, meaning you can attend two Row House classes for $35 plus taxes.

If you’re looking for a longer-term commitment, memberships are available from $109 for four classes per month up to $229 for unlimited classes.
