The Highlights

A highlight of Y7 was its refreshing, distinctive feel that we found to be accessible and fun.

We also loved the vibe, studio - and especially the music!

What Our Evaluator Had To Say

“Our instructor clearly had a passion for yoga and you could see she enjoyed teaching.”

“I loved the studio, which had a very distinct sense of brand and place. It was dark, candle-lit and had no mirrors.

“There were nice design touches through the space, such as a backlit set of namaste hands on the wall.”

What To Expect From A Y7 Studio Session

The Y7 promise is bold and enticing: “Sweat dripping, beat bumping, candlelit yoga.” Y7 offers an accessible atmosphere that’s welcome to all and an environment that’s different to most other yoga studios you’ve seen.

Class types include 60-minute Weflowhard Vinyasa and 75-minute Flow + Restore.

The Reception Service

Since no phone number was listed online, a phone inquiry was not possible.

Upon arrival, the receptionist was polite and got us checked in quickly, pointing out key areas like the locker rooms, water refill stations, and showers. The orientation helped us feel at ease with the layout, though a little more guidance on where to wait before class would’ve been helpful.

The departure interaction felt a bit transactional—our evaluator wasn’t asked about their experience or encouraged to return. While the staff was confident discussing membership options earlier, they didn’t dig into our specific needs. The service was fine, but it lacked the warmth and personal touch that would have made the experience stand out.

The Class Experience

Y7 Studio Flatiron received The Fit Guide Class Experience Award of Excellence, making it one of New York’s stand-out offerings.

The class was engaging and fun, offering a fresh and challenging format. The coach clearly knew their stuff, providing concise explanations, personalized adjustments, and creative variations to cater to different ability levels. The class flowed smoothly, with well-timed transitions, breaks, and a calming cooldown that tied everything together nicely. The use of palo santo to set the atmosphere was a nice touch and added something unique to the experience.

That said, the experience for first-timers could have been a bit more welcoming. The coach didn’t greet participants individually or learn their names, and there wasn’t much personalized guidance during the class. While injury checks were conducted, beginners didn’t get any extra attention or encouragement.

Overall, the class was positive and enjoyable, thanks to the coach’s skill, passion, and creativity.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio created a unique and atmospheric experience with its dark, candlelit environment, black-painted walls, and lack of mirrors. This distinctive design, combined with the placement of branded slogans like "We Flow Hard" above the fireplace, reinforced a strong sense of identity and offered a serene yet focused ambiance. The high-quality mats further contributed to the experience.

One minor gripe was that the mat placement, while designated with stickers, was very close, limiting personal space during the class.

The studio’s clean and well-maintained environment, coupled with its candlelit charm and high-quality sound system, provided a satisfying experience overall.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The public areas of the studio had a cool industrial vibe, with wood floors, white-painted brick walls, and big arched windows. Little touches like a backlit "namaste" hands display and motivational phrases on the stairs really added to the studio’s personality.

The locker room had two small changing areas, three showers, and two bathrooms, but the layout was a bit awkward. The lockers were by the reception, and the refresh bar was in the hallway, so we ended up using lotion and deodorant after we got dressed in the shower stalls. The lockers were on the small side, so we had to pile our stuff on top of each other. They provided complimentary workout and shower towels, but they seemed a little worn.

The bathrooms and showers were clean, with hot water, strong pressure, and steady temperatures. There were a couple of minor maintenance things, but nothing too serious. They had all the essentials like hand wash, lotion, deodorant, dry shampoo, and face wipes neatly stocked.

There was a water refill station but no other drinks or snacks available.

Digital And Technology

We were really impressed with the digital and tech experience at Y7. The website was clean, easy to use, and had all the important info like schedules, class types, and cancellation policies. Booking a session was a breeze, and we got a confirmation email right away. The website’s professional design and consistent branding really tied everything together.

Social media was another win, especially their Instagram page. It had useful info, including an up-to-date class schedule in the story highlights—something we really appreciated. The posts aligned with the brand’s vibe, and responses to messages came through within two hours.

One thing that could’ve improved the experience was having detailed coach bios on the website. It also lacked more specific directions besides just the club’s address. Emails were professional and included the logo, but they didn’t have the same punch as the rest of the branding—more design and engaging content would’ve been great.

Overall, the seamless booking process, solid social media, and easy-to-navigate website made for a positive experience.
