The Souk Story

Souk is a new addition to the NYC Yoga scene, since opening their single location in 2022 the brand has gained a notable fan base. Founder Rima Rabbath is a certified Jivamukti yoga teacher who spreads her passion for all things yoga through Souk. The teachers at the studio are extremely well versed in their specific style of yoga, with many studying abroad for years to gain a deeper understanding of the yogic arts.

How Did Souk Score Overall?

The full client experience at Souk was good, achieving our Recommended rating.

The class experience was positive and also achieved our Recommended rating.

Souk is featured in our article The Best Yoga Studios And Classes In New York.

The Highlights

For those beyond the beginner level, the class experience was a particular stand out with a passionate and attentive instructor. The disco ball was something different for a yoga studio that made us smile!

What Our Evaluator Had To Say

“I enjoyed the engaging warmup, which involved some chanting.”

“The coach clearly had a passion for yoga and enjoyed teaching.”

“The mic stopped working at one point, but the instructor handled it very calmly and professionally.”

What To Expect From A Souk Session

Souk, one of New York yoga scene’s newer additions, offers 65, 75 and 90-minute classes, as well as a 2-hour sound meditation session. Their instructor team offers some of the most well-known and popular yoga practices such as Jivamukti, Iyengar, Ashtanga as well as Vinyasa classes.

The Reception Service

Our call to the club before our visit was fast and short and didn’t leave us feeling prepared. On arrival, we had much better service with the reception staff letting us know where everything was and what to expect. No reception staff were present as we left.

The Class Experience

Souk received our Recommended rating for the Class Experience.

Our instructor was clearly well-versed in yoga and it looked like she had a passion for teaching. She made an effort to connect with everyone in the session. Some movements were hard to do as a beginner and the class finished very late, which was inconvenient for our evaluator.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio let in natural light and had some nice features, including an altar at the front, harmonium, candles, two gongs and a disco ball on the ceiling.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The public areas were nicely designed and included a good-sized locker room with two showers and two restrooms. The range of amenities offered was limited.

Workout towels were not available and shower towels were available to rent for $3. Lockers were provided with number locks. Free water refill stations were available.

Digital And Technology

The website contained a lot of useful information, but the social media wasn’t as informative. After we booked, we didn’t receive an email detailing policies or when we should arrive.

Pricing

Souk offers new clients an introductory offer of one week of unlimited classes for $48.

If you’re looking for a longer-term commitment, unlimited monthly memberships are available from $280.

Drop-in sessions are available at $30 per class, as well as smaller commitment packages which range from a four-pack for $112 to a 20-pack for $500
