Pedal House is featured in our article The Best Cycling Studios And Experiences In New York.
The Highlights
The class was a highlight; it was introduced strongly and maintained great rhythm and momentum throughout.
The knowledgeable coach was also a standout. She maintained great energy during the whole session.
What Our Evaluator Had To Say
“I appreciated that reception asked about my previous experience with spin or cycling, and asked if I was new to the area."
”The coach clearly explained the aims of the class and that the purpose was to keep to the beat of the music while other exercises were layered in.”
“I loved how the candles that flanked the instructor's bike made the space glow, even when the lights were turned way down.”
What To Expect From A Pedal House Session

Pedal House offers a music and rhythm-based cycling class that uses full-body movements that will give your legs, core, and arms a solid workout.
The Reception Service
Attempts to contact the club by phone were unsuccessful, as all calls went to voicemail.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by our coach, who was also acting as reception. Registration was efficient, and we received a clear and concise orientation, outlining where to find equipment, the locker room, and workout towels. The environment was welcoming, and the coach's personable demeanor helped set a positive tone, though our evaluator had to return to ask additional questions about water and the class setup.
After the class, the coach congratulated us and engaged in a brief discussion about our experience. When prompted, she provided detailed information about the available packages, displaying confidence and knowledge. While no proactive effort was made to encourage us to continue training, the interaction was friendly and informative. Overall, it was a welcoming yet fairly standard reception experience.
The Class Experience
Pedal House received The Fit Guide Class Experience Award of Excellence, making it one of New York’s strong, stand out offerings.
The class experience was positive, with the coach maintaining great energy and offering consistent encouragement throughout the session. The music provided a motivating rhythm, and the overall class structure had a clear momentum. While our evaluator, as a first-timer, found it challenging to get their bearings initially, the coach was reassuring, advising them to focus on cycling and gradually incorporating movements as they felt comfortable. This approach helped us feel more at ease.
More clarity during explanations would have helped, as the music volume often competed with the coach's mic, making instructions harder to follow. Additionally, while the coach's demeanor was warm and professional, a brief explanation of the class structure and intended energy flow at the start would have enhanced the first-time experience. Despite these points, the coach's positive energy, individual check-ins, and the class's engaging atmosphere created an enjoyable session.
The Equipment And Studio
The studio exuded professionalism and high quality, perfectly suited to the workout. The equipment was clean, in excellent condition, and of high professional quality. Bikes were thoughtfully pre-set with 3 lb weights, with heavier options available for those who preferred them, ensuring all participants were accommodated.
The training area was clean, spacious, and well-organized, with a fresh and comfortable environment. Branding was prominent, with a large club logo displayed on a wood plank wall that mirrored the design of the reception area. The dim lighting, adjusted throughout the class to match the music and sequences, created a dynamic and engaging atmosphere. Two large candles provided a subtle, steady glow, adding to the ambiance and orientation.
The high-quality sound system further elevated the experience, ensuring clear and energizing audio throughout the session. Overall, the studio delivered an impressive and cohesive workout environment with strong branding and thoughtful design elements.
The Facilities And Public Areas
The club exuded a high-end, calming atmosphere, making it an inviting and relaxing space. Thoughtful details like eucalyptus in the showers and calming design elements in the reception area, such as wooden planked walls and candlelight, significantly enhanced the overall experience. Branding was cohesive and well-executed in most areas, though inconsistent signage near the stairs slightly detracted from the otherwise unified aesthetic.
The changing and shower areas were clean, fresh, and well-stocked with amenities like deodorant, dry shampoo, and earplugs. However, the lack of seating in the spacious changing area was noted. The showers were in good condition, though the water was only lukewarm during our visit. The inclusion of eucalyptus in the showers added a thoughtful, spa-like touch.
Towels were neatly presented and easily accessible, while disposal points were clearly labeled and convenient. Lockers were clean, well-sized, and equipped with combination locks, though they lacked hangers.
Beverage options were limited to bottled water for purchase; additional snacks or refreshments weren't available. Overall, the club delivered a polished, high-end experience.
Digital And Technology
The club's website was intuitive and user-friendly, making it simple for us to book a class and find basic information. However, the FAQ section and class details could be more accessible from the top menu to better accommodate newcomers. Social media accounts featured consistent and professional content, but they were not linked to the website.
While emails were personalized and included the club’s logo, they lacked additional branding elements. Additionally, the booking process did not provide clear information about late cancellation penalties. Social media did not include a class schedule or links to one, though the channels were updated regularly and represented the client experience accurately.
