The class had a fun energy and provided a supportive environment, which was really appreciated by our evaluator who was new to this kind of strength training.
Another highlight was the on-brand, spacious training space.
What Our Evaluator Had To Say
“The class was strength training without any high-impact moves, which felt like a nice change of pace from the many high-intensity workouts available in the city.”
“The digital check-in process was easy and allowed members to prepare for the class at their own pace.”
“The studio was spacious and organized, offering a no-nonsense training space.”

What To Expect From A Liftonic Session
People go to Liftonic for one main reason - to get strong - but they stay for the community and atmosphere. They cater to all fitness and strength levels with qualified coaches that emphasise education and safety. A Liftonic class is typically 45 minutes long and focuses on specific muscle groups. For example, you'll hit Legs, Butt & Back on a Monday, so that you can come back quickly and hit another area such as Arms & Abs on a Tuesday.
The Reception Service
It was not possible to make a phone inquiry as the number listed online did not appear to be functional.
On arrival, the digital check-in process was smooth and user-friendly, particularly for returning members. However, without dedicated reception staff, the experience felt impersonal and a bit disorienting for a first-time visitor. While the coach on-site was friendly, they were engaged in personal conversations, limiting their availability to provide proactive guidance. No orientation or direction on where to wait was given, which would have made the arrival process more seamless.
On departure, the coach expressed appreciation for the visit and mentioned an upcoming event but did not offer guidance on continuing training or booking future sessions.
The Class Experience
Liftonic West Village received The Fit Guide’s prestigious and highest 5-Star Class Experience Award, highlighting one of the very best class experiences in New York.
The class was a well-structured and engaging strength session with an emphasis on low-impact exercises. Our coach brought enthusiasm, strong technical knowledge, and a personable approach that kept us motivated. Their effort to connect with clients, especially first-timers, stood out, making the class both challenging and enjoyable. Clear explanations, along with regressions and progressions to suit different ability levels, reflected the coach’s professionalism and attention to detail.
The session fostered a welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community, with the coach sharing details about club social events and creating meaningful connections. While the class ran slightly over time and breaks could have been better defined, the overall energy, focus on client care, and positive interactions made this a standout experience.
The Equipment And Studio
The studio was spacious, well-organized, and created a comfortable and unfussy workout environment. Branded benches and lighting consistent with the club’s style helped reinforce the brand identity. The space was clean, fresh, and had ample room for safe and effective movement.
While most equipment was high-quality and well-maintained, our bench was uneven during the workout, which detracted from the experience.
The red lighting and branded logos around the studio added a cohesive and polished touch which we loved. Paired with a high-quality sound system, the overall environment felt professional and well-executed.
The Facilities And Public Areas
The club’s clean and minimalist design created a welcoming yet unpretentious atmosphere. The underground location, with its industrial-style wooden beams, white brick walls, and red lighting, provided a unique vibe and a strong sense of place and brand. Branding elements, such as the studio’s logo on benches and walls, were nicely integrated. Workout towels, provided free of charge, were presented in wire bins.
While the club offered essential amenities such as hand wash, body lotion, deodorant, and dry shampoo, we found their placement in the open locker area rather than the restroom to be a little inconvenient. The narrow locker area, shared by all clients, limited space for changing, though dedicated changing stalls were available. There were no shower facilities.
Digital And Technology
The club’s website was clear and easy to navigate, allowing us to book a class without any issues and understand what to expect upon arrival. The website prominently displayed a “Intro Special!” call-to-action, though we were unable to find any detailed information about the brand's values and mission, as well as coach bios.
While email communications were professional and included the club’s logo, they lacked distinctive branding elements. The lack of a branded app and minimal use of technology to enhance the class experience limited the digital impact, although the availability of streaming classes was a positive feature.
