The CorePower Yoga Story

When Trevor Tice was left with permanent screws in his ankle after a climbing accident, he sought a new training method that would keep him active and challenged. He discovered yoga, got hooked, and with a desire to offer a practice that was dynamic, challenging and convenient, opened the first CorePower studio in Denver in 2002.

CorePower has seen wide scale success and steady growth since then. They opened their 50th studio in 2012 and now boast over 225 locations across the US, with more in the development pipeline. CorePower is available as a franchise model and, in addition, offers yoga certification training to aspiring instructors.

The engaging session was also a standout.

What Our Evaluator Had To Say

“The class was smooth and enjoyable. I found it both engaging and relaxing.”

“The club was clean and bright and I felt comfortable upon entering.”

“There were a lot of signs in the studio indicating membership perks, special events, and other opportunities for the community.”

What To Expect From A CorePower Yoga Session

CorePower offers classes for different ability levels, with their CorePower Yoga 1 focusing on the fundamentals and CorePower Yoga 2 offering more challenging poses for more advanced practitioners. Other CorePower offerings, such as Strength X and Yoga Sculpt, incorporate strength work using dumbbells and bodyweight exercises.

CorePower offers classes both online and offline and has a strong focus on community and promoting inclusivity and diversity at its studios.

The Reception Service

The CorePower call center representative was friendly and knowledgeable, providing clear details on studio facilities, class options, and membership offers. They asked relevant questions and conveyed enthusiasm, making us feel well-prepared and excited for our visit.

At the studio, the receptionist was welcoming and efficient, handling registration smoothly and offering a helpful orientation. While professional, the interaction felt somewhat transactional, lacking personalization like using our name or asking about our experience. After class, despite the studio’s busyness, the receptionist was engaged and informative when discussing membership options but didn’t proactively encourage us to come back.

The Class Experience

CorePower Yoga Village received our Recommended rating for the Class Experience.

The class delivered a smooth and enjoyable yoga experience, striking a balance between effort and relaxation. Our coach maintained a positive and enthusiastic presence, providing clear instructions and demonstrating a strong understanding of the practice. The flow was engaging, with well-timed adjustments that helped us challenge ourselves without overexertion. A well-structured warmup and cooldown rounded out the session.

While the class was well-run, there was little personalization, as the coach didn’t conduct an injury check, greet clients individually, or follow up with first-timers. The music didn’t always match the flow, and the sudden silence during savasana disrupted the ambiance. Despite these minor aspects, the overall experience was energizing, and the club’s strong sense of community contributed to a welcoming atmosphere.

The Equipment And Studio

The yoga studio was clean and provided a good amount of space for the class. The branded yoga mats added a small touch of identity, though the overall appearance of the studio was fairly standard and lacked distinguishing features.

The room was heated appropriately for a hot yoga class, but the lighting felt overly bright for the setting, which detracted from the relaxing ambiance you'd typically expected from a yoga session. Overall though, the space was functional and comfortable.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The studio offered a clean, bright, and organized environment that felt welcoming upon entry. The reception area featured minimalistic branding, including a boutique with branded merchandise, but lacked notable design elements that would create a strong sense of arrival or elevate the overall experience.

Lockers with key locks were conveniently provided, however, they were positioned in ways that often obstructed movement. Cleantowels were available to rent for $2.

The changing areas were tidy and stocked with thoughtful amenities such as lotion, deodorant, and mouthwash, but minor cleanliness issues were noted. Shower facilities included strong water pressure and premium toiletries, but again, a few cleanliness issues were noted.

Water refill stations were available, though beverage options were limited to water, and no food options were available.

Digital And Technology

The club’s online booking system and branded app made for a smooth and intuitive experience, allowing us to book classes and explore offerings with ease. Branch-specific pages provided useful details on location and operations, helping us feel prepared. However, more detailed class descriptions and coach bios on the main website would have been a welcome addition.

The website was professional, mobile-friendly, and aligned with the brand’s visual identity. Navigation was straightforward, and the upbeat, motivational tone clearly reflected the club’s values. The "About Us" section effectively conveyed the brand’s mission. Livestreamed classes were also an additional option if you can't make it to the studio or want a home yoga session.
