The CorePower Yoga Story

When Trevor Tice was left with permanent screws in his ankle after a climbing accident, he sought a new training method that would keep him active and challenged. He discovered yoga, got hooked, and with a desire to offer a practice that was dynamic, challenging and convenient, opened the first CorePower studio in Denver in 2002.

CorePower has seen wide scale success and steady growth since then. They opened their 50th studio in 2012 and now boast over 225 locations across the US, with more in the development pipeline. CorePower is available as a franchise model and, in addition, offers yoga certification training to aspiring instructors.

The Highlights

Corepower Yoga Rock Center scored consistently well across the board, with friendly staff and a great class being a key highlight.

The clean and presentable public areas were also a standout.

What Our Evaluator Had To Say

“The class flowed very smoothly and was a great mix of cardio and slower poses.”

“The class had an upbeat energy while maintaining a calm atmosphere.”

“The public areas had a clean and fresh feel and made me feel comfortable as I prepared for class.”

What To Expect From A CorePower Yoga Session

CorePower offers classes for different ability levels, with their CorePower Yoga 1 focusing on the fundamentals, and CorePower Yoga 2 offering more challenging poses for more advanced practitioners. Other CorePower offerings, such as Strength X and Yoga Sculpt, incorporate strength work using dumbbells and bodyweight exercises.

CorePower offers classes both online and offline and has a strong focus on community and promoting inclusivity and diversity at its studios.

The Reception Service

We were unable to contact the club by phone to make inquiries.

On arrival at the club, the receptionist was exceptionally friendly and courteous, warmly welcoming our evaluator, a first-time visitors, and offering helpful information. She ensured the registration was smooth, offered a verbal orientation of the facilities, and addressed our questions about the studio and class environment.

While the receptionist mentioned a current promotional offer during check-in, no further effort was made to recommend future classes or explain membership options. Following the class, the receptionist was occupied with cleaning duties and was not available to address additional questions or engage in further discussions about training at the studio.

The Class Experience

CorePower Yoga received The Fit Guide Class Experience Award of Excellence, making it one of New York’s strong, stand-out offerings.

The class offered a balanced and enjoyable mix of cardio and slower poses, with a smooth flow that kept energy levels high and participants engaged. The coach maintained a friendly and approachable demeanor, welcoming clients at reception and ensuring the session progressed seamlessly. Clear instructions and optional progressions helped cater to a range of abilities, while the upbeat music and restorative cooldown added to the overall positive atmosphere.

However, the experience could have been enhanced with a more detailed introduction to the class structure and injury checks to ensure everyone felt fully supported. While the coach made an effort to connect with quite a few people, individual adjustments and personalized encouragement were limited.

Overall, the session provided an engaging and well-paced workout, leaving us feeling positive and refreshed. The coach's energy and approachable attitude contributed significantly to the session's success, though a stronger focus on personalization and community-building would make it even better.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio felt very clean and fresh, providing all the essentials needed for a yoga class. The mats available for rental featured the club’s logo, adding a subtle branding touch, and the equipment was well-maintained and professional, though some weights had faded and peeling numbers.

While the space was appropriately heated and well-lit, the lighting felt overly bright for a yoga session, detracting slightly from the ambiance. The studio’s design was functional but lacked distinct character or standout features.

The sound system performed well, contributing to a smooth class experience.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The studio provided a clean and fresh environment that was comfortable for clients as they prepared for class. The reception area featured a minimalist design with branded elements such as motivational slogans and a boutique offering branded merchandise. However, the club’s location was difficult to find due to limited signage, which could benefit from clearer wayfinding.

The changing rooms included lockers with key locks but lacked multi-functioning hangers. While shower towels and workout towels were available, they were $2 to rent, and the quality could have been better. The changing area was clean and well-stocked with amenities like body lotion, deodorant, and cotton buds, though a few maintenance and cleanliness issues were noted.

Shower facilities were available, with hot water, strong pressure, and premium toiletries provided, however, could have been cleaner. The complimentary water refill stations were appreciated, but there was a lack of beverage options beyond water.

Digital And Technology

The club’s online booking system and branded app provided a seamless experience, allowing us to easily book classes and find relevant information on branch-specific pages. The detailed schedule and coach bios on the branch pages were excellent. However, the lack of detailed class descriptions on the main site was notably missing.

The website was professional, mobile-friendly, and consistent with the brand's visual identity. Navigation was straightforward, and the tone of the copy was upbeat and encouraging. While the "about us" section clearly conveyed the brand's mission and values, we would have liked to see comprehensive class descriptions and coach training styles.

The club leveraged its own branded app and an in-house booking platform effectively. The availability of on-demand and live-streamed yoga classes further enhanced accessibility.

Pricing

CorePower Yoga offers a free week for students and an introductory deal for first-time clients of two weeks of unlimited sessions for $99.

If you’re looking for a longer-term commitment, a monthly membership is available for $259 for unlimited studio and on-demand classes. The first month is $259.

Drop-in sessions are available at $40 per class, and smaller commitment packages start from a five-class package also available for $189.
