The AARMY Story

AARMY was founded in 2018 by superstar instructor Akin Akman. Supported by a team of high-level instructors, Akin and his army operate out of a single studio at their HQ on Broadway, just south of Noho. AARMY was created to help you ‘build your strongest, most resilient and most optimistic self’, whether that be in person or through their extensive online program.

Although the brand is famous for Akin himself, his team have developed strong followings and reputations in their own right.

What To Expect From An AARMY Session

AARMY offers premium indoor cycling in a supportive and highly motivating environment. The studio boasts strong, unique features that strengthen the brand, as well as high-quality studio lighting and sound systems to enhance the experience. A typical class at AARMY is much more than 45 minutes of cycling; it’s an experience that will help you “embrace a philosophy of constant progress”.

Alongside cycling, AARMY also offers bodyweight bootcamp sessions at their Broadway studio that are split between Upper, Lower, Full Body and Abs. Every session at AARMY is delivered in a high energy, music-driven environment.

The Reception Service

Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted; the registration process was efficient and smooth, and the unprompted orientation helped us navigate the space. As we left, the team offered useful info about class formats, without further interaction.

The Class Experience

AARMY received The Fit Guide’s Class Experience Award Of Excellence.

The workout was an engaging and well-structured experience, driven by our coach's high energy and the excellent selection of music. The session's design, with climbs, sprints, and walks tailored to the beat, made it easy to follow and enjoyable. The coach's constant encouragement and motivation helped us feel supported without feeling pressured to overexert. We saw many regulars actively supporting one another throughout the class, adding to the positive atmosphere.

Overall, the session was fun and uplifting, with a strong sense of community and excellent energy.

The Equipment And Studio

The training room delivered a sleek, high-end experience, combining functionality with a visually striking design. The dark room setup, accented by dramatic light bars along the mirrors, created an immersive atmosphere perfect for a cycling class. The black and gray color scheme, paired with bold branding elements like the Higher Standard slogan wrapping the walls, gave the space a polished, slick feel.

Equipment quality was top-notch, with purpose-built bikes that felt sturdier than many we’ve tried, prominently featuring the club’s logo. The room was spotless, well-organized, and kept at a comfortable temperature, while the high-quality sound system ensured crisp, powerful audio. Every detail reinforced the club’s commitment to delivering an elevated experience.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The public areas had unique branding features that all contributed towards a stunning and on-brand training facility. Particularly noteworthy were the well-placed quotes on the walls which complemented the brand’s ethos of “embracing a philosophy of constant progress surrounded by the inspiration of what’s possible”.

The unisex changing areas were very spacious and comfortable, with plenty of large sofas for use before and after a session. However, there were only three unisex bathrooms and no shower facilities available at the club.

Workout towels were provided free of charge. Free water refill stations were available. Lockers were provided but personal padlocks were required.

Digital And Technology

The online booking process was smooth and user-friendly. The website was functional, informative, and well-designed, with a clear sense of brand and messaging.

A highlight was their app and online offerings. This seems to be an integral part of their business and we found it to be marketed well on their website.

All social media activity was up-to-date and contained professional content that was informative.

AARMY offers a new client special of three classes for $60, including a 7-day trial of their on-demand offering. Alternatively, you can opt for seven days of unlimited classes for $99.
