The One Hot Yoga Story

Established in Melbourne in 2012 by Lucinda Mills, One Hot Yoga offers both Yoga and Pilates, and focuses on transformative growth. After success in Melbourne, One Hot Yoga opened their Potts Point branch in Sydney to spread their product and, self-growth based, philosophy further.

In addition to the club hosting retreats and workshops, One Hot Yoga further extends its positive influence beyond physical practice. The essence of constant improvement resonates throughout its offerings, inviting individuals to evolve and embrace a holistic approach to well-being.

The Highlights

A highlight of our visit was the studio space, which was large, airy and well-lit. The class was also delivered in a well-structured manner by the instructor.

What Our Evaluator Had To Say

“The instructor provided easier and harder options for each pose, which was helpful to me as a beginner.”

“In-depth demonstrations were provided for each position, which really helped me to get them right.”

“The receptionist handling the check-in process was warm, friendly and made me feel welcome.”

What to Expect From A One Hot Yoga Session

One Hot Yoga offers a range of Yoga and Pilates classes, including traditional options like Yin and Power Flow and Reformer Pilates classes, alongside more contemporary Yoga sessions such as their monthly Friday Flow and One Hot Still sessions.

Friday Flow is a 90-minute class with a varied theme each month, with previous Friday Flow sessions featuring laser light shows, live music and blindfolds.

Both the regular Pilates and Yoga classes typically span 45-60 minutes, with the Yoga sessions taking place in studios ranging from 27°c to 37°c. The reformer Pilates classes are held at 21°c and the Mat Pilates at 27°c.

The Reception Service

There was no response to our pre-visit calls to the branch. On arrival, our evaluator had to wait outside the studio for 10 minutes before they were let in, but once they were in the team offered a polite welcome and a helpful tour of the studio.

On enquiring about membership options after the class, they were advised to book on ClassPass.

The Class Experience

One Hot Yoga received our Recommended rating for the Class Experience.

The class had a very clear structure that was communicated well by our instructor. Easy-to-follow demonstrations were offered for each pose, which was helpful. More personal attention and encouragement would have improved the experience.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio was spacious and filled with natural light, with minimal branding elements. The equipment provided by the club was in great condition and in plentiful supply.

The Facilities And Public Areas

Shower towels were provided free of charge, and workout towels could be purchased for $5. Lockers were provided with number locks. Free water refill stations were available.

The public areas had a consistent theme, featuring subtle branding elements. There was plenty of seating and enough lockers for all class participants.

The bathrooms and changing room were clean and mostly in good condition - but a real highlight was the view from the waiting room, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering an impressive view of the city.

Digital And Technology

The brand’s website and social media pages were informative and had aesthetically pleasing branding features throughout. The booking process was smooth.
