What to Expect From A XYCO Martin Road Session
XYCO has made a big impact on Singapore’s cycling scene with their intimate but powerful studio, promising “equal parts a killer cardio workout and a damn good time”.
Designed to accommodate riders of all levels, XYCO offers two class types - Rhythm 50, which is a music and beat-centered session with a focus on fun, and Method 50, which is about performance, with sprints, hills, and jogs to challenge your power and endurance. In this class, there are no mid-class dumbbell upper-body exercises.
All sessions at XYCO are 50 minutes.
The Reception Service
The reception experience at XYCO Martin Road felt welcoming and upbeat, helped by the positive energy in the room. We were greeted with a smile, given a clear orientation and offered a coffee or tea while waiting, which set a relaxed tone. Check in was smooth, organised and unrushed, making it easy to settle in before the ride.
The phone enquiry earlier in the day was clear and informative, though it lacked a personal touch. In person, engagement varied between team members, which made the experience feel a little uneven. Departure was friendly, with a quick check in on how the ride went, but there was no prompt to explore memberships or return. Even so, the overall service felt warm and genuine.
The Class Experience
XYCO Martin Road received our Class Experience Award of Excellence, making it one of Singapore's stand-out offerings.
The class delivered a fun and lively ride that made the visit feel worthwhile. We were welcomed in and asked about our cycling experience, which helped ease first timer nerves. Coaching was clear and confident, with easy to follow instructions and pacing cues that kept everyone moving together.
Encouragement came at the right moments and regressions were offered without drawing attention. Names were not used and individual form checks were limited, but the room still felt friendly and connected. The cooldown closed things out smoothly, followed by a cheerful goodbye. Overall, the session stayed light, motivating and beginner friendly, making it an enjoyable ride.
The Equipment And Studio
The studio setup made a strong impression. The Stages bikes were spotless, well maintained and ready to go, setting a professional tone straight away. Spacing felt comfortable, the layout was easy to move through and the branded touches added personality without feeling forced.
The environment was clean and fresh, with lighting that lifted the mood without pulling focus from the workout. The design leaned simple rather than dramatic, but it created a comfortable space that supported the ride well. The sound system performed reliably and, despite a few scuff marks on the walls, the room stayed neat and pleasant throughout. Overall, it was a smooth and dependable studio experience.
The Facilities And Public Areas
The public areas felt bright and welcoming on arrival. The minimalist exterior and clear XYCO branding made the studio easy to spot, and inside everything felt tidy, calm and well organised. A neon sign added a playful touch that fit the brand without overpowering the space.
The layout was easy to navigate, with a relaxed waiting area, enough seating and music kept at a comfortable volume. Changing areas were clean and well presented, with backlit mirrors adding a subtle design lift. Amenities were basic but tidy, and the showers stood out with strong pressure and consistent warmth. While the studio does not have its own toilet, the nearby option was close enough not to disrupt the visit. Overall, the public spaces felt simple, clean and low stress.
Digital And Technology
The digital experience was smooth and stress free throughout. Booking through the website or app was quick and intuitive, with instant confirmations and easy options to manage or adjust sessions. The process was clear and reliable, which made arriving at the studio feel organised and well prepared.
Online, the brand came through clearly with clean design, straightforward copy and simple navigation. Class descriptions, schedules and coach profiles were easy to find and understand, with key actions clearly signposted. Emails struck a friendly, informative tone, and social media reflected the studio well, even if updates were less frequent than expected. In club, the technology worked quietly in the background and supported the visit without friction.
