What to Expect From A REVL Training River Valley Session
REVL is an evidence-based strength and conditioning program that incorporates rowers, air bikes and Ski-Ergs, amongst other tools, for the conditioning aspect, and dumbbells, barbells, medicine balls and rigs for their strength component.
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are strength-focused workouts called Move and Perform, with Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays more conditioning-based, called Sweat. Team sessions involve working with others in the REVL community towards a common goal.
Community and high performance are a big focus of the REVL approach and have helped them build a devoted following.
The Reception Service
Our visit to REVL Training River Valley had a mix of positives and missed opportunities. The phone enquiry was answered promptly and handled clearly, which made booking easy. On arrival, the welcome felt a little subdued at first, but improved once front-of-house support stepped in, confirmed it was our first visit and walked us through the basics so we knew where to go and what to expect.
Service across the visit was polite and straightforward. Information was shared clearly and package options were explained when needed. That said, the interaction stayed fairly hands-off, particularly on arrival and departure, with limited initiative to build rapport or personalise the experience. Overall, it was an easy and functional visit, with scope for a warmer, more engaging welcome.
The Class Experience
REVL Training River Valley received our Recommended Rating.
The class had a fun, social energy that helped us settle in quickly. Partner work added a sense of camaraderie, and the coach kept things moving with enthusiastic cues and regular check-ins. Form guidance and encouragement were consistent, which helped us feel supported while still being pushed. The session flowed well from section to section, giving the workout a clear structure and purpose.
There were a few dips in delivery, including an incorrect demonstration that caused brief confusion and the absence of a cooldown at the end. The session also lacked introductions, an injury check and any follow-up for first timers, which would have strengthened the experience. Even so, the pacing, structure and positive atmosphere made it an enjoyable workout overall.
The Equipment And Studio
The studio space felt fresh, bold and unmistakably REVL, with the brand’s colours and visual identity carried throughout the room. High-quality equipment such as Concept2 cardio machines and well-arranged strength gear created a solid base for the session. The lighting and layout supported an easy training flow and helped keep focus on the workout.
A few details held the space back from feeling fully polished. Scuff and sweat marks were visible on the black walls, and a shortage of dumbbells meant some of us needed to collect equipment from another area. While the design was cohesive and functional rather than architectural, the studio still delivered a reliable and professional environment for training.
The Facilities And Public Areas
The public areas were simple and easy to move through but felt limited in comfort and overall presentation. The waiting area was small and slightly cluttered, with minimal seating and few design elements to lift the space. While cleanliness was acceptable, the changing area showed signs of wear, including dust, clutter and maintenance items left in view.
Amenities were basic. There were no lockers, hairdryers or extended grooming options, though towels were provided, which helped. The showers were clean and in good working order, albeit very simple, and there was no in-house restroom, with external facilities used instead. A positive was the range of beverages and protein snacks available.
Digital And Technology
The digital experience at REVL Training River Valley was smooth and easy to use. The website felt clean and on brand, with a clear visual style that reflected the club’s bold identity. Booking a class was straightforward, with simple guidance around memberships, class packs and how to get started. Confirmation emails arrived promptly and covered the key details needed ahead of the visit.
Social channels were active and consistent with the studio’s look and tone, giving a realistic sense of what to expect in class. The branded app worked reliably for bookings and schedule management. While the email design was fairly plain and could have shown more personality, the overall digital journey was efficient, clear and made planning the visit feel hassle free.
