What to Expect From A On Good Ground Katong Session
On Good Ground Katong runs a mix of yoga and barre classes that cater to a wide range of experience levels, from complete beginners to regular practitioners. The timetable includes Yoga Basics, Gentle Flow, Vinyasa Flow, Barre Basics and Barre Sculpt, alongside slower, more restorative options like Yin and Yin + Sound.
Classes use simple props such as blocks, straps and light weights, and pacing varies depending on the format, from calm and deliberate to more dynamic and strength-focused. Overall, the offering is broad and approachable, with sessions designed to be accessible and clearly guided.
The Reception Service
Walking into On Good Ground Katong felt calm and welcoming, with a friendly greeting as we arrived. Check-in was quick and relaxed, and we were given a clear orientation that helped us get our bearings and feel ready for class. The arrival experience felt unrushed and easy, with just enough conversation to make a first visit feel comfortable.
After class, the team took time to check in and talk through our experience. Package options were explained clearly and without pressure, with suggestions that felt relevant to what we might enjoy next. While we weren’t able to reach the studio by phone before visiting, the in-person service was warm, thoughtful and left us feeling welcome to return.
The Class Experience
On Good Ground Katong received our Class Experience Award of Excellence.
The class at On Good Ground Katong was delivered with confidence and clarity, led by an instructor who clearly knew the regulars and set a comfortable, familiar tone from the start. The warmup flowed well, cueing was clear throughout and the structure suited a barre basics session. Demonstrations were easy to follow, explanations were concise and the pacing felt measured and appropriate for the format.
While the teaching was polished and professional, the energy stayed fairly even. A little more light interaction during the tougher sections could have lifted the room, and individual technique corrections were limited. That said, encouragement was present and the instructor took time to chat after class, which added a friendly finish. Overall, it was a well-run session that balanced calm focus with an approachable atmosphere.
The Equipment And Studio
The studio was set in a charming building with high ceilings, generous natural light and warm wooden finishes that gave the space a calm, homely feel. Neutral tones, subtle planting and modern lighting created a clean, comfortable environment, while tidy equipment storage added a sense of order and professionalism.
Equipment was spotless, well spaced and easy to access, with enough options to support different ability levels. The layout made setup simple, and the sound system delivered clear audio that supported the session without dominating the room. Overall, the space felt considered and uplifting, and it suited the style of training well.
The Facilities And Public Areas
The studio’s public areas carried through the same calm, minimalist feel as the training space. The reception area was compact but tidy, with a small cushioned bench, soft colours and an uncluttered layout. Natural light and plants helped the space feel inviting, and everything appeared clean, organised and well looked after.
Amenities were more limited. There were no lockers or towel service, and the single combined toilet and shower room was basic and could feel tight during busier periods. Even so, the overall atmosphere stayed relaxed and welcoming, with the design doing much of the work in creating a cohesive and pleasant arrival experience.
Digital And Technology
Online, On Good Ground Katong presented a calm and welcoming digital presence that reflected the studio well. The website was thoughtfully laid out, easy to navigate and clear in its explanations of class types, coaches and values. Booking a class was straightforward, and the tone of the copy felt friendly and approachable without trying too hard.
The experience became less clear after booking. We didn’t receive a confirmation email, and information around cancellation policies, first-timer expectations and practical details like towel requirements was limited. Social media carried the same aesthetic and mood as the studio, though posting was less frequent than expected. With stronger post-booking communication and clearer guidance for new visitors, the digital journey could better match the in-studio experience.
