The Fitstop Story

Fitstop is an Australian-born functional fitness franchise founded in 2013 by Peter Hull, a former professional motocross athlete. Following a career-ending injury, Hull turned to functional training for rehabilitation and mental resilience, initially training athletes out of his parents’ garage in Brisbane. This grassroots approach later evolved into a scalable, community-led franchise fitness concept.

The brand positions itself as the “Home of Functional Fitness”, with programming designed to support the “everyday athlete” through team-based training. Fitstop aims to bridge the gap between elite performance and general health, focusing on four core pillars: movement, nutrition, recovery, and connection.

Fitstop has grown into a global franchise with over 200 locations worldwide across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the United States. Expansion is supported through a partnership with Lift Brands, alongside technology platforms that support coaching, member engagement, and studio operations.

What to Expect From A FITSTOP Lavender Session

A Fitstop session is built around structured, team-based functional training designed to suit a wide range of fitness levels. Classes follow a circuit format, combining strength, conditioning and athletic-style movements, with clear stations and set work periods that keep the session moving at a steady pace. Workouts are coach-led, with demonstrations at the start and guidance throughout to help members understand the flow and intent of each 'block'.

Fitstop programs rotate through different class types across the week, including strength-focused sessions, conditioning-based workouts and hybrid formats that blend both. Members train alongside others, often sharing equipment or working in pairs, which creates a supportive, group-driven atmosphere. Options to scale movements up or down are built into the programming

The Reception Service

We were greeted with a warm welcome at Fitstop Lavender, where the coach on duty handled both reception and the workout with ease. Check-in was smooth, quick and friendly, and we were given a clear rundown of the space, including lockers and showers. The desk area felt organised and easy to move through, which helped the visit get off to a good start.

While the experience felt relaxed and approachable, it could have benefitted from more personal touches. The phone line went unanswered before our visit, names were not exchanged in person and sales conversations only came up when we initiated them. Pricing was shown on a phone rather than printed materials. Even so, the overall welcome was warm, efficient and made us feel comfortable stepping into our first session at the club.

The Class Experience

FITSTOP Lavender received our Recommended Rating.

Fitstop Lavender brought good energy to the workout. The coach delivered a well-structured session with clear cues, steady pacing and consistent encouragement. The class started on time, demonstrations were easy to follow and the music added enough lift to keep the group moving confidently. We felt supported throughout and the upbeat coaching style carried the room smoothly from warmup to finish.

Some first-timer touches were missing, including injury checks, name use and a clear explanation of the session goals. Individual form coaching was limited and there was no follow-up after class. Even with these gaps, the session felt motivating, professional and well run, making it a solid introduction to Fitstop’s team training style.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio provided a solid training environment with high-quality equipment that supported a safe and smooth session. Branded touches like the mural and backlit quote added personality, and the floor layout allowed everyone to move comfortably between stations. Weights and strength tools were available in a good range, making it easy for different ability levels to train side by side.

A few maintenance details stood out, including worn kettlebells and scuff marks on the walls and ceiling, suggesting the space could use a refresh to fully match the brand’s identity. Even so, the studio felt functional, energetic and well equipped for the style of training Fitstop delivers.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The public areas were easy to navigate, with clear branding visible from the entrance that gave the space a defined identity. Towels and lockers were clean and in good condition, and the showers offered strong pressure with consistent temperature. Moving through the space felt straightforward, with a layout that supported smooth pre and post workout transitions.

Some small details held the space back from feeling more premium. Cleaning tools were left out, a few printed signs felt off brand and there were visible marks on floors and walls. Amenities were basic and not always fully stocked, and there were no secure lockers or workout towels. Food and beverage options were limited. Even with these gaps, the space functioned well for training and delivered a comfortable, no fuss experience.

Digital And Technology

The digital journey was simple and easy to move through. Booking via the website or app took only a few steps, payments processed smoothly and confirmation arrived straight away. Classes appeared correctly in the system with clear cancellation options, and the pre-class notes made arrival feel organised and predictable.

The website felt clean and confident, with clear class information, schedules and a solid overview of the club. Social media gave a genuine snapshot of the training environment and community. The app stood out for progress tracking and session management, making it easy to stay engaged. Coach bios and clearer cancellation details would strengthen the experience further, but overall the digital setup was smooth, reliable and user friendly.
