What to Expect From A F45 Alexandra Session
The name stands for “Functional Training 45”, with sessions being a mix of functional HIIT and strength exercises delivered in a 45-minute format. Each day, the workout is predetermined by F45 HQ and is the same at every F45 location worldwide.
Their Saturday “Hollywood” sessions are the only 60-minute class and are famous for hiring local DJs to create a party atmosphere and bring the community together.
Workouts are typically run by two or more coaches per class. To support the coach, clients are guided by screens that display each exercise as well as beeps and graphics that cue them to work, rest or move to their next station.
The Reception Service
Arriving at F45 Alexandra felt friendly but fairly hands-off. The coach acknowledged us on entry, though the greeting came a little later once there was a pause between classes. Check-in was accurate and efficient, and after prompting we received a brief orientation that covered the essentials. There was no dedicated waiting area, so pre-class meant finding space around the equipment, but the overall atmosphere in the studio was upbeat and welcoming.
At departure, the experience wrapped up quickly. There was no post-class check-in or conversation about next steps, and while interactions throughout were polite and warm, the goodbye felt rushed. A bit more engagement after class would have rounded out the visit and made the welcome feel more complete.
The Class Experience
F45 Alexandra received our Class Experience Award of Excellence.
The class stood out for its strong community feel. Members were friendly and welcoming, and being paired with a regular helped us settle in quickly. The coach brought good energy to the room, with clear guidance, steady pacing and regular encouragement throughout. When an injury was mentioned, alternatives were offered straight away, which felt thoughtful and well handled.
The workout was clearly explained, well structured and confidently delivered. Demonstrations were easy to follow, the music matched the pace and the session flowed smoothly from warmup through to the final block. Technique cues were given quietly and at the right moments, and transitions felt organised. The class ran slightly over time and there was no follow-up afterwards, but overall it was a fun, motivating session with a strong sense of community.
The Equipment And Studio
The studio was bright, energetic and clearly F45, with branding carried through the turf, walls and equipment. The atmosphere felt lively and motivating, and there was a full range of high-quality cardio and strength equipment ready for use. Everything was well organised and available in enough quantity to support the circuit without bottlenecks.
A few TRXs showed signs of wear and there were some marks on the walls, but the training floor overall was clean, comfortable and well lit. The sound system delivered clear audio for both music and coaching cues, and the layout allowed the class to move smoothly between stations without crowding.
The Facilities And Public Areas
Public areas were compact but practical. The mixed-gender bathrooms and showers were clean and well maintained, with simple grooming setups inside the cubicles. Water pressure and temperature were reliable, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were provided, and free workout and shower towels made post-class routines easy.
Storage around the bathrooms felt a little cluttered, and without a dedicated waiting area or lockers, space could feel tight at peak times. Even so, the layout was clear, branded merchandise and drinks were available, and the space remained functional and easy to move through.
Digital And Technology
The digital journey was smooth and easy to navigate. The website was clean and intuitive, with simple online booking, clear explanations of class types and a straightforward payment process. Confirmation emails and policy details arrived promptly, though the branding within them was fairly minimal.
Social media reflected the studio atmosphere and class schedule well, with regular updates that stayed relevant. The club used Mindbody alongside F45’s Lionheart heart-rate tracking system, adding a performance-focused layer to the workout experience.
