The CRNK Story

CRNK (pronounced “crank”) is a Singapore-based boutique fitness brand offering a hybrid of rhythm cycling and Reformer Pilates. Originally founded as a single-location studio, the brand was revived during the COVID-19 period after being taken over by current co-owners Andrew Khoo, Jenell Khoo, and Wai Teng, who repositioned and scaled the concept through a strong community-led approach.

CRNK positions itself as a movement built on intention, inclusion, and connection, aiming to create environments where members feel supported regardless of experience level. Its signature 50-minute Ride classes combine high-intensity cardiovascular training with curated music and immersive lighting, while Reformer Pilates is designed to complement cycling through strength, mobility, and functional movement.

Today, CRNK operates multiple studios across Singapore, including East Coast, New Bahru, and Clarke Quay. Growth has been driven organically, with the founders exploring collaborative expansion and internal concepts under the CRNK umbrella.

What to Expect From A CRNK New Bahru Session

CRNK New Bahru offers two distinct class formats under one roof. Their 50-minute RIDE sessions focus on high-energy indoor cycling, combining rhythmic riding, curated playlists, and sustained cardio work. These classes are designed to deliver a challenging, sweat-heavy workout driven largely by music and pace.

For a lower-impact option, CRNK also runs Reformer Pilates classes that focus on strength, mobility, and control using reformer machines. These sessions move at a more measured pace and are suitable for a wide range of experience levels. Between the two formats, CRNK provides options for those looking for either high-intensity cardio or more controlled, strength-based training.

The Reception Service

Arrival at CRNK New Bahru was smooth and straightforward. Check-in was quick, with a QR-code health waiver, clear instructions, and a simple orientation that made things easy as first-timers. We arrived early and were offered a comfortable place to wait, and our booking details were confirmed without issue, which helped the visit start on a calm note.

The service itself felt more functional than personal. Staff were polite and efficient, but there were no introductions, name use, or check-in after class. There was also no real follow-up or guidance around future bookings, and package options were shared without much confidence. Overall, the experience was organised and professional, but a little more warmth and engagement would have elevated it.

The Class Experience

CRNK New Bahru received our Class Experience Award of Excellence, making it one of Singapore stand-out offerings.

When it came to the actual class, CRNK delivered. The coach showed up early, greeted us warmly, acknowledged that we were first-time riders, and clearly explained the session structure and goals. Everything ran on time; the warm-up felt effective and the main ride was easy to follow thanks to clear instruction, good pacing, and helpful demonstrations. Mid-class the coach offered choices so riders of different levels felt included, and the cooldown wrapped things up nicely with music and a calm atmosphere.

We left feeling energized, supported, and confident that the coach knew what they were doing. The energy, timing, and professionalism were all there, and for a first-time spin class it felt accessible and well managed. On the flip side, there wasn’t much in the way of personal attention: no name-use during class, no injury screening, and no individual form adjustments. A little more follow-up or personalised coaching would have helped make the experience feel more tailored.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio setup left a good impression. The bikes were clean, high quality, and well maintained, with enough space between them to ride comfortably without feeling crowded. Everything needed for the session was set up and ready to go.

The room itself felt tidy and fresh. Lighting and sound were well balanced, creating a focused atmosphere without being overwhelming. The layout was practical but considered, giving the class a more polished feel than a standard spin setup.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The entrance set the tone with a clear brand feel and a clean, minimalist look. Public areas felt modern and easy to navigate, with a simple waiting space, good lighting, and consistent branding throughout.

Showers and changing areas were clean, well maintained, and easy to use. Water pressure and temperature were reliable, and both towels and lockers were available and neatly presented. Amenities were basic, but the space felt tidy and practical, delivering a smooth and convenient experience overall.

Digital And Technology

The digital journey was smooth from the start. Booking online was quick, bug free and intuitive. Confirmation arrived immediately with clear policies that helped us feel prepared for the visit.

The website matched the brand tone with a clean design and clear navigation. Key information was easy to find. Automatic emails looked polished and reflected the brand style accurately. Social media represented the experience well, although posting frequency was not high. There was no extra in studio technology but the essentials were reliable and easy to use.
