What To Expect From A The Training Lab Session
The Training Lab offers 55-minute high intensity, total body conditioning sessions as well as strength-focused sessions. Both class types incorporate a main lift (deadlift, squat, bench press, pull ups or overhead press).
The Training Lab puts a huge emphasis on ‘training hard, training smart’ and being ‘for those hungry to take their fitness to the next level’, so expect to be pushed through a challenging program that requires a high level of effort.
The Reception Service
We were unable to contact the club by phone to make an inquiry,
The reception experience left us with a disappointing first impression, as there was no one present when we arrived 15 minutes before class. When the receptionist arrived, interactions were minimal and factual, offering no personal engagement. We received no guidance about the studio's unique setup, split across two floors. While the coach provided a brief orientation, there was no proactive effort to help us feel settled or directed.
During departure, the service was perfunctory. The receptionist did not inquire about our experience or make any effort to foster a sense of community or encourage a return visit. There was no proactive effort to recommend classes or tailor packages to our evaluator's needs. The process was delayed due to reliance on an unbranded, internal-looking price list, which was not client-friendly. Overall, the lack of enthusiasm, personalization, and clear communication made the reception experience feel quite impersonal.
The Class Experience
The Training Lab has received The Fit Guide’s Recommended rating for its notable class experience.
The class was high-energy and offered a positive community vibe, but it fell short of expectations in a few areas. Our evaluator had anticipated a predominantly deadlift-focused strength session but instead encountered a conditioning-heavy workout. This was disappointing, particularly as it was not made clear in advance that the session would be advanced. While our coach displayed enthusiasm, provided individual encouragement, and ensured participants felt supported, key aspects of session structure and beginner-friendliness were lacking.
The class began with a fun and engaging warm-up, but it lacked gradual progression to prepare participants for high-intensity exercises. The session featured clear instructions and modifications for some exercises, but regressions and progressions were not consistently offered. Additionally, breaks were not clearly defined, and the inclusion of extra exercises for early finishers disrupted the session's flow. The class ended 10 minutes late without a cooldown.
While the coach demonstrated professionalism, attentiveness, and a genuine passion for teaching, the lack of clarity around class structure, insufficient beginner accommodations, and an absence of a proper cooldown diminished the overall experience.
The Equipment And Studio
The studio showcased impressive branding consistency and attention to detail, with on-brand colors, wall murals, framed quotes, and a prominently displayed logo on the wall and floor mat. These elements created a professional and cohesive atmosphere, elevating the overall impression. The strength equipment, branded by Rogue, and cardio equipment from reputable brands like Concept2 and Rogue was high quality.
Despite some wear and tear noted, the space was well-lit, clean, and spacious, providing a comfortable and effective workout environment.
The Facilities And Public Areas
The public areas featured a clean and well-maintained design, with branding elements such as wall quotes, murals, and the American flag contributing to the studio's cohesive aesthetic. However, the club was difficult to locate due to a lack of signage on the building's exterior or ground floor.
Lockers with numerical locks were provided and conveniently sized, featuring two hook hangers. Complimentary workout and shower towels were available and thoughtfully presented—sweat towels at the reception desk and shower towels in the changing rooms. The showers, while limited to two, offered hot water with strong pressure and were clean and well-maintained. Amenities included hand wash, moisturizers, deodorant, and various grooming products, though some minor wear and tear was noted.
The waiting area was comfortably spacious with ample seating options, but the club lacked a free water refill station. Paid beverage options, including flavored protein shakes, BCAAs, and water, were available, though there were no food options. The absence of sensory enhancements, such as distinctive lighting or music, and the standard design of the changing area detracted from the overall experience.
Digital And Technology
While the booking process was straightforward, we didn't receive a confirmation email, and had to manually check the schedule on the website.
The website had a professional design, easy navigation, and clear class schedules. Class types and the brand’s values were well-represented. The social media presence was strong, with a schedule accessible on Instagram highlights which was a nice feature. However, inconsistent posting schedules and delays in responding to client messages undermined the social media experience.
Email communications were minimal but professional, though they lacked strong branding elements beyond a basic logo.
