The The Class Story

In creating The Class, founder Taryn Toomey took inspiration from overcoming struggles in her life to develop a unique fitness concept that could positively impact others, combining both mindfulness and movement to create a non-judgmental environment and community.

Taryn started teaching her practice in 2011 and “The Class” as a concept was born in 2013. The first studio space launched in Tribeca in 2017 and, with a desire to impact more people, The Class launched online sessions in 2019. Today, The Class also has a studio in Santa Monica, Los Angeles.

What To Expect From A The Class Session

The Class’ signature workout blends rhythmic breathing, calisthenics and plyometrics, offering an experience that “creates an entirely new feeling in the mind and body”. On-demand classes are also available, with a select few of their studio classes each week being live streamed on their digital platform.

Classes are usually 60 minutes long, with some “express” 45-minute classes on the schedule. Expect a unique workout experience designed to stimulate all of your senses and challenge your body and mind.

The Reception Service

We enjoyed the chat during our pre-visit call, which was full of energy and excited us for our visit. This warmth was extended to our arrival, where we were greeted promptly and shown around the studio. After the class, our interaction was more transactional.

The Class Experience

The Class received our Recommended rating for the Class Experience.

The coach, the music and the community at The Class created an atmosphere that was upbeat and positive. Coaching and words of encouragement were offered only to the group as a whole, rather than on an individual level.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio was nicely designed and the equipment was of high quality, albeit a little worn in places. Also, the training area had a strong sense of place and brand.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The public areas were really beautifully designed with high quality materials. The color palette created a very impactful and unique feel. There were no showers available at the club.

Workout towels were provided free of charge. Lockers were provided with number locks. Free water refill stations were available.

Digital And Technology

The website and social media channels do a good job of demonstrating the concept and values of The Class.

Pricing

The Class doesn’t offer memberships, instead, clients can purchase class packages. Packages range from a five-pack of classes that costs $165, to a 20-pack of classes that is priced at $600.

Drop in classes are also available, and they cost $35.
