What To Expect From A SoulCycle Session
SoulCycle is a premium indoor cycling offering that delivers soulful, music-driven rides in a fun and nightclub-like environment. Their “boundary-pushing” workout is designed to uplift and empower in an environment that’s inclusive and non-judgmental. During the class, everyone cycles in time with the beat of the music, creating an in-sync unity and vibe that’s made it world-renowned.
They often do themed rides featuring particular artists, for example, you might find a Beyonce Vs Jay-Z class, and each instructor becomes well-known for their music selection.
If you’re a first timer to SoulCycle, we recommend seeking out a class or instructor that you vibe with and who shares your taste in music.

The Reception Service
The phone inquiry was helpful but could have used a bit more energy. We got clear, detailed info about the studio’s facilities and classes, but the conversation felt a bit flat—no questions were asked to personalize the interaction.
When we arrived, the receptionist greeted our evaluator right away and got us checked in quickly. There was a brief orientation, pointing out where the lockers and restrooms were, but it didn’t include info on how to use the lockers or where to grab towels.
After the class, there was no follow-up about how our experience went or any proactive offer to share information about future training options. When we asked about packages, the staff referred us to the website.

The Class Experience
The class was a high-energy and fun workout, with lively commentary and an upbeat playlist. The coach exuded confidence and passion, which set a positive tone. However, as a first-timer, we felt a bit lost at the start, since there wasn’t any help with setup or a formal introduction to the class format.
While the instructor greeted everyone as they arrived and provided clear instructions during the class, there wasn’t much personalization—no names were used, and there wasn’t an injury check.
The class was well-paced, with a solid warm-up and cooldown, and participants could adjust intensity based on their fitness level. But there was some confusion around the interval lengths, and the sense of community within the club didn’t shine through.
Despite these hiccups, the workout was enjoyable, and the coach's energy was upbeat.
The Equipment And Studio
The studio offered a polished, immersive environment, with the darkened room really setting the tone for the class. The SoulCycle-branded bikes were clean, high quality, and well-maintained, adding to the studio's premium vibe. The lighting and sound system were spot on, creating an atmosphere that really made the class enjoyable.
That said, the close spacing between the bikes was a bit of an issue. Our bike was almost touching the one in front, and the narrow gaps between columns made it harder to move comfortably. Even so, the strong branding and overall ambiance left a positive impression.
The Facilities And Public Areas
The public areas were clean and well-maintained, with branding elements like exterior signage and branded merchandise contributing to the studio's vibe. However, the waiting area felt cramped and lacked enough seating for all the riders, making it less comfortable before and after classes. The layout was organized, but it didn’t offer much space for relaxing or socializing—pretty common in New York, where rents are famously high.
Lockers with number locks were in good condition, but they lacked hangers. Both workout and shower towels were complimentary and neatly presented on shelves. A free water fountain was available for refills, but the paid beverage options were limited to water, with no flavored or electrolyte drinks.
The studio had two showers that were clean, with consistent hot water and strong pressure. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel were provided, though the limited number of showers might be an inconvenience, especially during peak times when classes can exceed 60 participants. The changing area was tidy but small, with minimal bench space and just the basics—hand wash and deodorant.
Digital And Technology
We were highly impressed with the digital offerings, particularly the ease of booking classes and purchasing credits through the professionally designed website. The website’s sleek design, clear navigation, and strong branding helped us feel prepared for the visit. The inclusion of essential information, such as class schedules and a dedicated "Our Story" page highlighting the brand’s values.
Email communications reflected the brand's identity with custom fonts, colors, and logo imagery, reinforcing the club's aesthetic. However, one booking confirmation email lacked personalization, which slightly detracted from the otherwise polished communication experience. Social media pages were regularly updated, consistent with the brand's look and feel, and provided direct booking information through the Instagram bio. We were unable to locate a class schedule on these platforms.
