The Highlights
The coach did a remarkable job of leading the very technically challenging class.
The high-end equipment was also a highlight.
What Our Evaluator Had To Say
“The coach did a really amazing job keeping the class moving along but not letting me get lost on what to do.”
“The class felt very smooth and made sense, physically, as we moved between different focuses on the body.”
“The studio felt like a departure from the outside world that allowed you to fully focus on the workout at hand.”
What To Expect From A SLT Tread Session
SLT Tread offers 'two machines; one high-intensity workout'.
In their own spin on the popular dual method training concepts, SLT Tread combines 25 minutes of the classic SLT workout, using Megaformer Pilates machines, with 25 minutes of running on Woodway treadmills.
We recommend starting with their Intro session which offers a little more time getting used to the Megaformer machine. Once confident, you can progress to their Full Body, Ass & Abs and Core sessions.
The Reception Service
The phone inquiry experience was positive overall, with clear and detailed information provided about the studio's facilities and class offerings. The staff member's friendly demeanor and proactive assistance made us feel excited about the visit.
On arrival, the receptionist was polite and promptly greeted our evaluator, completing registration efficiently and providing a brief orientation to key areas. However, the informal setup and lack of guidance on where to wait or confirmation of the booked class detracted from the experience, making it feel less seamless and welcoming.
After the class, the departure experience felt disengaged, with no effort to ask about our experience or encourage us to return. While staff were knowledgeable and comfortable discussing packages, recommendations lacked personalization.
The Class Experience
SLT Tread received TheFit Guide 5-Star Class Experience award, making it one of New York’s leading group class experiences.
The class experience was exceptional, with a highly knowledgeable and attentive coach who ensured a seamless and supportive environment for all participants. The class was particularly well-suited for beginners, with thorough guidance on using the reformer, detailed explanations of exercises, and consistent personalized support throughout the session. The coach's friendly and encouraging demeanor, combined with clear communication and attention to individual needs, created a welcoming atmosphere that helped our evaluator feel comfortable and capable.
The class flow was smooth, balancing the technicality of Pilates with a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment. The coach's proactive efforts to build connections with participants and the evident camaraderie among regular members and newbies contributed to a sense of community. While brief breaks between movements could have been more defined, this minor detail did not detract from an otherwise outstanding experience.
The Equipment And Studio
The studio provided an exceptional experience, with high-end equipment in excellent condition and a thoughtfully designed training area that allowed everyone to fully immerse themselves in the workout. The equipment, including branded treadmills, reinforced the studio's premium feel, and everything appeared meticulously maintained.
The studio's branding was subtly woven into the environment through its gray and blue color scheme, logos on the equipment, and motivational slogans on the walls. The lighting transitions—brighter for the megaformer portion and dimmer blue tones for the treadmill section—enhanced focus and supported the studio's branding.
However, the studio felt too cold, which detracted from the otherwise comfortable atmosphere. Our evaluator noted needing to keep a sweatshirt on throughout the megaformer session, which felt out of sync with the intensity of the workout. Despite this, the overall environment, supported by a high-quality sound system, was impressive and well-suited to the class.
The Facilities And Public Areas
The public areas were clean and well-maintained, with branding elements such as a boutique area and slogans in the studio’s signature colors contributing to the vibe of the space. However, the layout felt unconventional, with lockers (with number lcoks) and the waiting area situated in an open hallway.
Workout and shower towels were available and complimentary. However, the workout towels were notably thin and not very absorbent. A water refill station was provided for complimentary use, though paid beverage options only included boxed water, with no electrolyte or flavored drinks available.
Two showers were available in the club, with consistent hot water and strong pressure, and they were well-maintained. While the club provided essential amenities such as hand wash, lotion, deodorant, and hair products, the absence of sensory elements, notable architectural features, and a welcoming temperature in the waiting area detracted from the overall experience.
Digital And Technology
We were highly impressed with the digital experience, particularly the ease of booking classes and purchasing credits through a user-friendly website. The website’s clean and professional design, paired with its clear navigation and branding, helped us feel prepared for our first visit. Detailed email communications following account creation, credit purchase, and class booking ensured we were well informed. The emails featured strong branding elements, such as logos, photos, and a distinctive tone that conveyed the club's values and focus on results.
The club’s social media presence was another highlight, with regularly updated pages that provided relevant information. However, while the technology used for booking was effective, the club lacked advanced features to enhance the in-class experience. Additionally, there was limited information about the seven class types on the website, and coach bios lacked details on their training styles.
Overall, the seamless booking process, comprehensive email communications, and strong online presence left the client with a positive impression.
