SLT Tread - NoMad

New York City, USA

The SLT Tread Story

SLT stands for "Strengthen, Lengthen, Tone" and offers a unique workout experience that combines cardio, Pilates, and strength training. Founded in 2007 by Amanda Freeman, SLT quickly found a strong, cult following that fueled its expansion through a franchise business model.

Their recent SLT Tread studio concept in NoMad opened in 2020 and offers a 50/50 mix of their trademark reformer and treadmill running.

How Did SLT Tread Score Overall?

The full client experience at SLT Tread was very good, achieving The Fit Guide 4-Star Award.

The class was very impressive, winning our prestigious and highest 5-Star Class Experience Award.

SLT Tread is featured in our article The Top Fitness Studios In New York, Independently Rated and Ranked.

The Highlights

The coach did a remarkable job of leading the very technically challenging class.

What Our Evaluator Had To Say

“The coach did a really amazing job keeping the class moving along but not letting me get lost on what to do.”

“The class felt very smooth and made sense, physically, as we moved between different focuses on the body.”

“The studio felt like a departure from the outside world that allowed you to fully focus on the workout at hand.”

What To Expect From A SLT Tread Session

SLT Tread offers 'two machines; one high-intensity workout'.

In their own spin on the popular dual method training concepts, SLT Tread combines 25 minutes of the classic SLT workout, using Megaformer Pilates machines, with 25 minutes of running on Woodway treadmills.

We recommend starting with their Intro session which offers a little more time getting used to the Megaformer machine. Once confident, you can progress to their Full Body, Ass & Abs and Core sessions.

The Reception Service

The reception staff were overall friendly and knowledgeable when asked questions. They could, however, have been more proactive and anticipatory service beyond the basics.

The Class Experience

SLT Tread received TheFit Guide 5-Star Class Experience award, making it one of New York’s leading group class experiences.

Our evaluator found the class challenging but rewarding, and felt that the encouraging and attentive coach did a really great job of guiding participants through every step.

The Equipment And Studio

The high-end equipment was all in excellent condition. Our evaluator appreciated the design of the studio including lighting effects and branding.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The public areas were clean and well-maintained and in excellent condition, however, the open locker and waiting area did not offer any security or comfort. Notable branding elements were evident throughout the studio and public areas.

Workout and shower towels were provided free of charge. Lockers were provided with number locks. Free water refill stations were available.

Digital And Technology

We found the website to be informative and it helped us prepare for class, offering smooth functionality to buy credits and book classes. The branding on the website felt slick and clean. Social media pages were informative and updated regularly and on-demand training was also available.

Pricing

SLT Tread offers an ‘intro 2-pack’ buy one get one free deal on their website priced at $42, as well as a ‘one time 3-pack’ for $108 for first time clients.

If you’re looking for a longer-term commitment, memberships are available from $144 for four classes per month up to $440 for unlimited classes.

Drop-in sessions are available at $42 per class, with smaller commitment packages also available, starting at a five pack for $200.
