How Did Pure Barre Flatiron Score Overall?

The full client experience at Pure Barre, Flatiron was very good, achieving The Fit Guide Award Of Excellence.

The class was exceptional, winning our prestigious and highest 5-Star Class Experience Award.

The Highlights

The class experience was a particular standout and was every bit deserving of its 5-Star Class Experience award.

The training area was also a highlight. It clearly enhanced the sense of brand with red lines, and the studio name on the wall.

What Our Evaluator Had To Say

“Our instructor’s attention and energy made this a positive experience all round.”

“We could feel the sense of community in the club amongst the instructors and members.”

“A strong effort was made to personalize and adjust the difficulty level for everyone in the room.”

What To Expect From A Pure Barre Session

Pure Barre offers four 50-minute class formats catering to different goals and ability levels. Their proprietary method is low-impact and uses tools such as balls and bands. Pure Barre Foundations is a recommended first step into their trademark small movements that strengthen and tone your body. This session is free and offers a great introduction to their method.

Pure Barre Classic is their signature session for all levels, Pure Barre Empower is a barre and high-intensity interval training blend, and Pure Barre Reform uses sliders, as well as the classic bands and barre to get your strength, coordination, and balance.

The Reception Service

The phone line listed for the studio wasn’t working, so we weren’t able to gather information or ask questions before our visit.

On arrival, we were greeted warmly by the receptionist, who was professional and thorough. Check-in was efficient, and we received a clear, unrushed orientation, with key areas like the restrooms, changing rooms, and studio pointed out. A helpful touch was the offer to merge profiles from different studio locations, making the process more seamless. However, no guidance was given on where to wait before class.

After class, while the receptionist was polite and approachable, they didn’t ask about our experience or encourage a return visit. They were knowledgeable about the available packages and engaged in discussing options tailored to our needs, keeping the conversation informative without any pressure to purchase a package.

The Class Experience

Pure Barre Flatiron has achieved The Fit Guide 5-Star Class Experience Award for an exceptional class, putting it amongst the very best in New York and the industry.

The class was an engaging and well-executed experience, marked by enthusiasm and professionalism. Our coach made a genuine effort to connect with participants, introducing themselves before class and checking in afterward. Personalized greetings, injury checks, and encouragement throughout the session created a welcoming and supportive environment.

The workout flowed smoothly, with clear instructions, visual demonstrations, and modifications to accommodate all fitness levels. The coach’s high energy and motivating approach made the class both enjoyable and challenging. While the session started and ended slightly late, it didn’t take away from the experience. Announcements about community events and a strong sense of connection reinforced the club’s inclusive atmosphere, making for a positive and fun session.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio featured a well-thought-out design, with high-quality, clean, and well-maintained equipment suitable for all ability levels. Branded details, such as logo-marked weights and red tubes lining the floor, reinforced the studio’s identity and created a cohesive atmosphere.

The training area was spacious and comfortable, allowing for safe movement. While the equipment was in great condition, some weights had worn numbers, and the floorboards showed minor scuff marks, slightly affecting the overall polish. Still, the bright lighting, strong branding, and high-quality sound system contributed to an engaging and professional workout environment, leaving a strong positive impression.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The studio featured spacious public areas with an industrial style, highlighted by white walls, slate floors, and hanging light fixtures. Branding was strong throughout, with the studio’s signature red color and name prominently displayed in the reception area and boutique. However, the placement of lockers outside the changing rooms and some disorder in the locker area made the space feel a bit chaotic.

The changing rooms were well-equipped with amenities like hand wash, hairspray, deodorant, and dry shampoo, though the lack of benches reduced comfort. Showers were clean and stocked with complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and gel, but water pressure could have been stronger, and some fixtures showed signs of wear. Lockers were a good size with numerical locks but lacked hangers. Complimentary workout and shower towels were provided, though some showed signs of wear.

While complimentary water was available, the refill station had a slow flow, making it less convenient. Paid beverage options included water and energy drinks.

Digital And Technology

It was easy to make a reservation online and the website was very informative. The site provided comprehensive details about class types, the brand's values, and coach bios, all presented in a professional and user-friendly manner. Social media pages were well-maintained, featuring relevant posts that aligned with the brand and showcasing both customers and marketing promotions. The inclusion of a Linktree in the Instagram bio made it easy to book and navigate options.

The emails received, while including basic branding elements such as the studio name and color, lacked a strong brand presence and came from a generic email address. Their social media lacked a class schedule.

Pricing

Pure Barre offers a ‘first class free’ promo on their website as well as a 30% discount on the first month of a three month unlimited session membership.

If you’re looking for a longer-term commitment, memberships are available from $139 for four classes per month up to $209 for unlimited classes.

Drop-in sessions are available at $38 per class, with smaller commitment packages also available, starting at a five pack for $189.
