What To Expect From A Mile High Run Club Session
Mile High Run Club (often abbreviated to MHRC) has, as you would expect from the name, a big focus on running. To support their commitment to New York's runners, they’ve invested in top-of-the-range Woodway treadmills which offer a rugged feel similar to outdoor running. Strength is an important element of being a good runner, so MHRC has added in resistance training into some of their sessions.
In DIRTY 30, their shortest session, you can expect to run 2-4 miles over 30 minutes; HIGH 45 is interval training over 45 minutes covering 3-6 miles and with their DISTANCE class, you’ll hit a full hour and roughly 5-7+ miles.
If you want to add strength work to your run, go for their 45-minute DASH STRENGTH class which mixes 30 minutes of interval running with 15 minutes of kettlebell and running-focused strength training.
The Reception Service
While staff members were friendly and efficient during arrival and departure, overall there was little attempt to connect both before and after the session.
More of an effort being made to get to know our experience level and help us continue our running journey with the club would have enhanced the service.
The Class Experience
Mile High Run Club UES received The Fit Guide 4-Star Class Experience Award, making it one of New York’s stand-out offerings.
Our evaluator was used to running outdoors, so was intrigued about what to expect from a running-only indoor class. They were pleasantly surprised with how enjoyable it was and enjoyed the high-intensity workout. To improve the experience, the coach could have conducted an injury check and provided more personalized attention and guidance for first-time clients.
The Equipment And Studio
The high-tech Woodway equipment and studio were clean and in good condition. The lighting added a nice effect and feel to the studio space, but there was a lack of interesting or distinctive branding elements.
The Facilities And Public Areas
We found the industrial-styled public areas to be functional and clean but were lacking branding or interesting design elements. A good selection of amenities was provided. There were no food or snack options, which we were seeking out after pushing ourselves hard in the session.
Workout and shower towels were available free of charge. Lockers were provided with number locks. Free water refill stations were available.
Digital And Technology
The online booking process was user-friendly and relevant information could be found on the website, such as detailed coaching bios.
