“All reception staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.”
What To Expect From A Cyclebar Session
CycleBar is a premium indoor cycling offering that delivers high-energy, music-driven rides in a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment.
CycleBar offers a range of classes, from beginner to advanced, led by experienced and certified instructors. The studio features high-end technology to enhance the experience, including LED lighting, sound systems, and a performance tracking leaderboard.
The Reception Service
The phone interaction provided useful information, though it lacked personalization.
At the studio, receptionists greeted us warmly, efficiently handled registration, and offered a helpful orientation. While the interactions were pleasant, they could have been more personalized and staff did not proactively guide us where to wait.
During the departure, reception staff confidently discussed package options and maintained focus despite the studio's busy activity. However, there was no strong effort to tailor package suggestions to our needs.
The Class Experience
Cyclebar Flatiron has received our Recommended rating for its notable class experience.
The cycling class offered a good workout experience with good flow, clear instructions, and engaging energy. The coach delivered the class confidently, maintained a professional demeanor, and made efforts to encourage participants during the session. The warmup and cooldown were appropriately paced, and the use of music added to the positive atmosphere. The coach’s enthusiasm and focus on motivating the group enhanced our overall enjoyment of the class.
The session could have been more personalized to first-timers. There was no assistance with bike setup, injury checks, or an introduction to class structure and expectations. Additionally, there was no follow-up with newcomers after class or any effort to create a sense of community.
The Equipment And Studio
The equipment and studio space were clean, in excellent condition, and featured high-quality machines from reputable brands. Branded logos on the bikes added a subtle touch of identity, and the equipment was well-stocked, catering to various ability levels.
The studio lacked strong branding elements or design features to make it stand out. The space behind our evaluator's bike was too tight to perform some strength movements, such as bar tricep extensions. Avoid the back row if you’re tall! Additionally, the sound system didn’t evenly fill the room, with the audio focused more at the front, affecting the overall experience.
The lighting effects, synchronized with the music, created a dynamic atmosphere, and the environment was fresh and comfortable.
The Facilities And Public Areas
The club offered spacious and clean public areas with many engaging branding features, such as slogans and a client milestone wall, contributing to a polished and professional atmosphere. The showers were particularly comfortable, with consistent water pressure and premium toiletries, and towels were available free of charge, neatly presented in the shower area.
Lockers were provided with number combination locks and were conveniently sized, though they showed some wear and lacked hangers. The changing areas were clean and well-stocked with hand wash and deodorants but had limited seating, which could be an issue during peak times. While the reception area and public spaces had a minimalist and fresh design, the storefront lacked a strong visual presence to create a memorable sense of arrival.
Water refill stations and paid beverage options, including flavored canned drinks, were appreciated. There were no food options on offer.
Digital And Technology
The club’s booking process was smooth and user-friendly, though there was no immediate confirmation received for our initial class booking. Later email communications reflected the brand’s voice and style effectively.
The website was professional, mobile-friendly, and easy to navigate, with clear branch-specific pages and detailed scheduling information. The tone was welcoming and inclusive, aligning well with the brand’s values. However, the lack of coach bios and outdated blog content slightly detracted from the overall experience.
The club utilized a branded app and comprehensive booking platform, both of which functioned efficiently. The inclusion of online training options via Xponential Plus was also a plus.
The in-class technology added a fun and interactive element by displaying stats such as watts, calories burned, and points on the monitors. It significantly elevated the experience by providing detailed stats both during and after the class. While the periodic updates during the class were appreciated, more frequent updates could enhance the experience without making it overly competitive.
