The Highlights
A highlight was the class, which was challenging but the coach did a great job keeping the vibe fun and engaging.
The prison-themed public areas also stood out.

What Our Evaluator Had To Say
“There was a really lovely, friendly relationship between the staff and clients.”
“The public areas were simple, but despite the ‘prison-like’ vibe, everything was clean and comfortable.”
“Our coach consistently gave advice on which muscle group the clients should be engaging.”
What To Expect From A Conbody Session
The Conbody method was developed in a prison cell with no equipment and little space, and it clearly works. Founder Coss used the method to help other inmates lose over 1,000 lbs of body weight, and he now offers those training techniques in his studios on the outside to help others get fit and lose fat.
In a typical Conbody session you can expect plenty of body weight exercises and plyometrics such as push ups, squats and burpees, with each day offering a specific focus, such as Better Booty Wednesday, Hard Core Thursday and Full Body Friday.
The trainers have done their time, and now they’ll help you ‘do the time’ needed to get results in a supportive and inspiring environment.

The Reception Service
Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly, and the registration process was quick and efficient. A verbal orientation covered key areas like lockers and training room guidelines, though there were missed opportunities to enhance the experience—such as confirming our booked class, advising on where to wait, or proactively mentioning water and towel availability.
The departure experience stood out, with the coach/owner showing enthusiasm and a strong sense of community. Their passion for the club was clear as they engaged in a conversation about classes, membership options, and special offers. They confidently introduced a promotion and provided guidance on our questions. While they didn’t personalize the interaction with our name or ask tailored questions to assess our needs, the overall exchange felt genuine and welcoming, leaving a strong positive impression.
The Class Experience
The workout was both challenging and rewarding, led with high energy and expertise. Our coach created a fun, positive atmosphere, motivating us to push ourselves while ensuring a strong focus on safety and technique. Special attention was given to those with injuries, offering modifications to keep them moving confidently. The session was well-paced, with clear instructions and an emphasis on motivation.
While the class had a lively and engaging vibe, more personalization for first-timers would have been a nice touch. The coach checked in before and after class but didn’t make much effort to learn names or tailor the experience for beginners. While injury modifications were available, alternative exercises for plyometric movements weren’t always offered.
The strong sense of community stood out, with a welcoming environment and camaraderie among regulars and staff. First-timers were invited to take part in a playful post-class tradition, adding to the feeling of belonging. Overall, this class delivered a tough, rewarding workout while offering a glimpse into a tight-knit and supportive fitness community.

The Equipment And Studio
The training room was simple and unfussy, reflecting the no-nonsense style of the brand. The space provided ample room for clients to complete their workout without any equipment, staying true to the straightforward approach of the session.
The low, orange lighting and the "Do the Time" message painted on the back wall tied seamlessly into the brand's identity, creating a cohesive and intentional atmosphere. The room was clean and well-lit, with a high-quality sound system enhancing the overall experience.
The Facilities And Public Areas
The studio offered unique prison-themed branding, nicely executed throughout the space. Its mission to provide career opportunities for formerly incarcerated individuals was seamlessly integrated, with artwork and infographics reinforcing the story. Despite the industrial, minimalist aesthetic, the space felt clean and comfortable, with small but meaningful touches like on-brand laundry carts for towels.
While the public areas were impressive, some practical features were lacking. Lockers didn’t have locks or high-quality hangers, and beverage and food options were limited to water. There were showers, ample towels, and well-stocked amenities. Overall, the studio’s dedication to its mission of offering the previously incarcerated careers in the fitness industry made for an impactful and unique experience.
Digital And Technology
The club’s website and branded app made booking easy, with no technical issues during the reservation process. Claiming a first free trial was seamless, but the website lacked class descriptions and preparation guidance for first-timers. The brand’s values were reflected well in the website copy, though email communications were somewhat generic.
The website was professional, mobile-friendly, and easy to navigate,
The club utilized a branded app and offered livestreamed and on-demand classes.
