The Barry's Story

Barry’s proudly proclaims their cardio and strength hybrid training to be the ‘best workout in the world’, and have built a large and loyal global following. 

Founded in 1998 in Los Angeles by Barry Jay, Barry’s became a pioneer of the boutique fitness scene and one of its most recognized brands.

After steady growth during its first decade, Barry’s opened its first international location in Norway in 2011, followed by London two years later. There are currently seven locations in London, with one location each in Manchester and Liverpool.

The famous ‘red room’ has since expanded to over 70 locations across the globe in 14 countries including Singapore, Australia, UAE, Qatar, as well as other regions in Europe.

The company is now headed by former Barry’s instructor Joey Gonzalez, who is overseeing their further expansion with a mix of franchise and corporate-owned locations.

Expect a high-intensity combination of treadmill intervals and strength training designed to challenge every muscle group. Barry’s Miami Beach delivers its famous mix of “run and lift” formats in a sleek, dimly lit Red Room powered by motivating playlists and expert coaching. Each day of the week targets a different muscle focus from Upper Body, Lower Body, Full Body, Core, or Total Body, so you can balance your training across sessions. With a premium locker room setup, a lively Fuel Bar for post-class smoothies, and a seamless booking experience through the Barry’s app, it’s everything you’d expect from one of the world’s most iconic fitness brands.

From the moment we walked through the doors at Barry’s Miami Beach, the team made us feel like part of the family. The check-in process was quick and easy, and the warm greeting from the front desk team immediately set the tone for what was to come. We were given a short but helpful orientation to the space, including where to find lockers, the Fuel Bar, and the iconic Red Room. Everything felt organized, upbeat, and friendly, making it an effortless start to the visit.

After class, the same welcoming energy continued. The team chatted with us about how we found the workout and explained the different membership options clearly, without any pressure. Their enthusiasm and professionalism stood out, leaving us feeling appreciated and excited to come back for another session.

The Class Experience

Barry's Miami Beach received The Fit Guide Five-Star Class Experience Award making it one of Miami's stand-out offerings.

Our instructor brought serious energy and charisma to the Red Room, creating a motivating and high-intensity session from start to finish. The workou was a mix of treadmill sprints and strength interval. It was fast-paced and easy to follow, with progressions and regressions offered throughout to suit different fitness levels. The music was perfectly matched to each segment, keeping the energy high and the atmosphere electric.

We loved how our instructor called out encouragement by name throughout the class, adding that extra personal touch that kept us pushing harder. Even though there wasn’t a specific injury check or post-class follow-up, the instructor’s confidence, enthusiasm, and clear coaching style ensured everyone in the room felt capable and supported.

The Equipment And Studio

The famous Red Room did not disappoint. Sleek, moody lighting, blacked-out walls, and the signature red glow created an instantly immersive environment that felt powerful and distinctly Barry’s. The layout was spacious, with premium Woodway treadmills and plenty of high-quality weights arranged for easy access.

Everything was spotless and well-maintained, though a few dumbbells were showing light wear. The sound system delivered crystal-clear music and cues, adding intensity to every moment. Overall, the studio felt professional, modern, and unmistakably Barry’s.

The Facilities And Public Areas

Every part of the space was designed to impress. From the pink neon “Miami Beach” sign and palm-leaf walls to the polished locker rooms stocked with Ouai products and Dyson hairdryers, the attention to detail was clear. Both workout and shower towels were complimentary, and the changing areas were stylish, bright, and immaculate.

The Fuel Bar was a definite highlight—participants could pre-order post-class smoothies or grab a coffee, with energy drinks and bottled water available too. Seating in the waiting area was limited, but everything else about the environment was fresh, clean, and vibrant, perfectly matching the upbeat Miami vibe.

Digital And Technology

Booking our class through Barry’s sleek website and app was quick and easy. The system was intuitive, and all key information, such as arrival times, cancellation policies, and class descriptions, was clearly communicated. The confirmation emails felt polished and fully on-brand, complete with Barry’s signature red and black color scheme and motivational tone.

The website itself delivered a strong sense of the brand’s identity, showcasing the signature Red Room visuals and Miami energy. Social media was equally consistent and visually striking, though we would have loved to see direct links to the schedule or booking pages. Overall, Barry’s Miami Beach nailed the digital experience, keeping everything smooth, bold, and true to its high-performance reputation.

Pricing

Barry's Miami Beach offers an introductory deal for first-time clients. Newcomers can pay $25 and enjoy a class, or $60 for a first timer 3 pack.

If you’re looking for a longer-term commitment, memberships are available from $250 for 8 classes per month up to $420 for 30 classes per month.

Drop-in sessions are available at $34 per class, with smaller commitment packages also available, starting at a 5-pack for $165
