What to Expect From A REVL Collingwood Session

REVL is an evidence-based strength and conditioning program that incorporates rowers, air bikes and Ski-Ergs, amongst other tools, for the conditioning aspect, and dumbbells, barbells, medicine balls and rigs for their strength component.

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are strength-focused workouts called Move and Perform, with Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays more conditioning-based, called Sweat. Team sessions involve working with others in the REVL community towards a common goal.

Community and high performance are a big focus of the REVL approach and have helped them build a devoted following.

The Reception Service

Our pre-visit calls to the club were not answered. In person, the experience was stronger. We were greeted promptly, acknowledged as first timers and guided through registration clearly. Even without a formal front desk, check-in felt organised, and we were shown lockers, water refill points and the class space.

After class, there was a follow-up conversation about our experience with suggestions on what to try next. Overall, the tone was friendly and proactive.

The Class Experience

The session had a clear structure and started on time, with timings and goals explained upfront. Regressions and progressions were mentioned, and there was visible effort to engage the room. The coach was knowledgeable and positive, and there was a strong sense of community among members.

Station setup was not clearly assigned at the start, and demonstrations were rushed. Instructions were at times difficult to hear due to overlapping classes. Support during the workout was not always immediate, and transitions and breaks were not consistently communicated, which left us confused as first timers. The class ran late and ended without a structured cooldown or defined wrap up.

The Equipment And Studio

Strength equipment was clean, stocked and spaced appropriately. There was a good range of weights and all equipment functioned as expected. Some pieces showed visible wear and rust.

The studio was clean with comfortable temperature, bright lighting and strong sound. Design was practical with branding touch points through the studio. The environment supported a solid workout.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The club was easy to locate, and the waiting area offered adequate seating with comfortable temperature and suitable music volume. Layout was straightforward with safety elements visible.

Showers were clean with toiletries provided. Locker and grooming areas appeared dusty and cluttered, and toilets were not well maintained. Lockers had key locks and were practical in size. Free shower towels were available. Food and beverage options were free tap water and an energy drink.

Digital And Technology

Booking through the website and branded app was smooth. Classes could be purchased, schedules viewed and bookings managed without issue. Class descriptions, cancellation rules and arrival guidance were clearly displayed. An immediate confirmation email or text was not received after booking.

The website reflected a strong brand identity with clear navigation and messaging around community and functional training. Social media was active and visually aligned with the in-club experience. Automated emails were on brand.
