What to Expect From A F45 Coburg Session
The name stands for “Functional Training 45”, with sessions being a mix of functional HIIT and strength exercises delivered in a 45-minute format. Each day, the workout is predetermined by F45 HQ and is the same at every F45 location worldwide.
Their Saturday “Hollywood” sessions are the only 60-minute class and are famous for hiring local DJs to create a party atmosphere and bring the community together.
Workouts are typically run by two or more coaches per class. To support the coach, clients are guided by screens that display each exercise as well as beeps and graphics that cue you to work, rest or move to your next station.
The Reception Service
The reception felt friendly and smooth especially in person. When we called ahead, the information was clear and accurate, and the tone was calm and professional. The call covered the essentials.
In the studio, the experience stepped up. We were greeted promptly, acknowledged as first timers, and guided through registration efficiently. An orientation of the space was offered without us needing to ask, which helped us feel comfortable straight away. Conversations felt warm and genuine, with our name used and follow-up support offered after class. There was no hard sell, but we were clearly encouraged to return. Overall, the in-studio service felt welcoming and retention-focused.
The Class Experience
F45 Coburg received The Fit Guide Five-Star Class Experience Award, making it one of Melbourne top offerings.
The class was a standout. It started on time, the format was clearly explained, and the structure was easy to follow thanks to the in-studio screens displaying timings and stations. We felt supported from the start, with clear demonstrations, steady pacing, and a strong coaching presence that balanced group energy with individual attention.
Regressions and progressions were offered confidently, and technique corrections were delivered discreetly and helpfully. Pairing beginners with existing members created an inclusive vibe, and the coach moved consistently around the room to check form and offer encouragement. The session closed with a proper cooldown and an upbeat wrap-up, leaving us feeling motivated and part of something. It ran slightly over time, but the overall delivery was organised, energising, and enjoyable.
The Equipment And Studio
The studio felt purpose-built for high-energy functional training. Equipment was clean, professional, and fully stocked, with recognised brands and clear F45 branding throughout. Even where kettlebells showed light wear, everything remained safe and fully functional. There was enough equipment for all levels, and the layout supported smooth transitions between stations.
Visually, the space carried strong brand identity through logos, slogans, and the signature colour palette. The flooring design and branded track leading toward the main logo added impact, and the lighting and sound system supported the intensity of the workout. Temperature and cleanliness standards were solid, creating a focused and motivating training environment.
The Facilities And Public Areas
Public areas were clean, practical, and clearly on brand. The studio was easy to find, and the bold F45 signage and colours made the identity clear from the start. The overall layout was straightforward, with clear pathways and a sense of order throughout.
Waiting areas were functional rather than lounge-style, with limited seating due to the open-plan setup. Changing rooms and bathrooms were clean and well maintained, and showers were available with consistent water pressure. Lockers were conveniently located and in good condition, though they did not include built-in locks or hangers, and towels were not provided. Amenities were basic, but everything was clean and easy to use. The space prioritised function and efficiency over luxury, and it delivered well on that front.
Digital And Technology
The booking journey was smooth and reliable. We could book and pay easily through both the website and app, and the system worked without glitches. Arrival information was clear, helping us feel prepared before stepping into the studio. One small gap was the lack of an automatic booking confirmation and clearly reiterated cancellation details, which slightly reduced reassurance after booking.
The website was professional, mobile-friendly, and consistent with the F45 brand. Class types, schedules, and introductory offers were easy to find, and the brand’s focus on teamwork and performance came through clearly. Coach bios were not included, and account creation options were limited on the website itself. Email and text communications were timely and aligned with the brand tone, while social media was active and accurately reflected the in-club experience. The branded app added real value with tracking and training tools, giving the digital ecosystem extra depth beyond just scheduling.
