The BFT Story

BodyFit Training (commonly known as ‘BFT’), founded in 2017 by Cameron Falloon and Richard Burnet in Australia, is a leading fitness franchise that specializes in cardio and strength training.

Since its launch, BFT has experienced rapid expansion, with locations now spanning across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. BFT was acquired by Xponential Fitness in 2022 but as part of the acquisition deal, Body Fit Training retained the rights to franchise the BFT brand globally, excluding North America. Operating on a franchise model, Body Fit Training upholds fairness as a key value when operating with franchisees and clients.

What to Expect From A BFT Southbank Session

Body Fit Training (often abbreviated to “BFT”) is a functional strength and conditioning program that offers 13 different class types in a 50-minute format, led by multiple qualified and accredited coaches.

The weekly program at BFT offers both strength focused sessions, as well as more cardio-heavy classes. For the cardio work, you can expect to use rowers, air bikes and Ski-Ergs, with dumbbells, slam balls and barbells some of the tools of choice for the strength.

BFT’s program is periodized over 8-10 week blocks, built to train different energy systems in each session and with a focus on developing skills and technique.

The Reception Service

Our first phone interaction was clear and structured. Relevant questions were asked about our background and goals, and class formats, arrival timing and expectations were explained calmly. We arrived feeling prepared.

In studio, we were greeted promptly and acknowledged as first timers. Check-in was efficient, health documentation was handled smoothly and a clear orientation covered the layout and next steps. Conversations about future training options were supportive and aligned to our goals. A physical price list was not available.

The Class Experience

BFT Southbank received our Class Experience Award of Excellence.

The class was structured and professionally delivered. Coaches were attentive with strong floor presence and consistent engagement. Our name was learned and used, instructions were clear, timings were displayed on screens and demonstrations were easy to follow. During the main workout blocks, we received discreet form corrections and appropriate alternatives where needed.

The warm-up relied heavily on the screen with limited coach interaction, and session goals were not outlined at the start. The class finished on time with a short cooldown, and coaches remained available after class.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio provided a performance-focused setting. Equipment was fully stocked, well spaced and suitable for a range of abilities. Branded kettlebells, plates and sandbags reinforced identity, and transitions between stations were smooth. Some kettlebells showed visible wear and minor surface rust.

The training space was clean and comfortable. Lighting and temperature supported the session, and the sound system delivered clear audio. Dedicated heart rate screens added measurable feedback and reinforced the studio’s data-driven positioning.

The Facilities And Public Areas

Public areas were easy to navigate and generally clean. Entry branding was clear and movement between spaces was straightforward. Waiting areas offered adequate seating and appropriate temperature control.

Changing and grooming areas were spacious and clean, though presentation showed wear and amenities were limited. The grooming area was tucked away. Showers had consistent water pressure, though one caddy was broken. Lockers were clean and well sized, and workout and shower towels were not provided. Food and beverage options were limited to water.

Digital And Technology

Booking was smooth across website and app. Sessions could be purchased and managed easily, payments processed reliably and confirmation emails were sent promptly. Late cancellation and penalty details were not highlighted in digital communications.

The website was mobile friendly and aligned with the brand’s science-based messaging. Schedules, descriptions and booking pathways were easy to find. Automated emails were professional. Social channels reflected the in-studio experience, though an up-to-date class schedule was not available there. The branded app included performance tracking and community features.
