The Reception Service

Over the phone, the team member provided a clear and informative overview of the studio’s offerings. They explained the class structure, highlighted the difference between Lagree and Reformer Pilates, and gave helpful recommendations tailored to first-timers. They also guided us through the app setup and shared practical details like parking validation and shower availability at other locations.

When we arrived at the studio, we were greeted with a friendly and welcoming demeanor. However, it wasn’t initially recognized that it was our first visit, and a more proactive orientation would have made us feel more prepared. The check-in process itself was smooth and efficient, and the environment was calm and professional.

After class, the team member asked if we had enjoyed the session and confidently walked us through the package options, even offering to break down the per-class pricing. While the information was helpful, there was no clear encouragement to return or effort to tailor recommendations based on our needs. A little more personalization—like asking about our goals or suggesting a next step—would have been appreciated. Overall, the reception experience was competent and pleasant.

The Class Experience

The Studio (MDR) Playa Vista received our Class Experience Award of Excellence.

We were impressed with the class experience at The Studio MDR Playa Vista. The coach was professional, passionate, and clearly experienced. Before class began, they welcomed us, asked about our previous experience, and gave a helpful introduction to the Megaformer. Throughout the session, they kept a close eye on form, moving around the room to offer hands-on corrections and assist where needed. Their instructions were clear and easy to follow, with options provided for both regressions and progressions to suit different levels.

The class had strong energy from start to finish, with smooth pacing and motivating music that complemented the workout. While the overall delivery was confident and well-executed, a few touchpoints were missed—there was no formal class introduction, overview of structure or goals, or group welcome at the beginning. The absence of a cooldown routine also slightly lessened the sense of closure. However, encouragement was offered throughout, and guidance on technique was consistent and helpful.

The coach made an effort to connect with everyone in the room and showed genuine care for our experience. Overall, the atmosphere was upbeat and positive, and we left feeling both challenged and well taken care of.

The Equipment And Studio

The equipment and studio at The Studio MDR Playa Vista were on point. The Megaformers and strength equipment were clean, well-maintained, and professional in quality, with enough options to accommodate all levels of ability. Everything was neatly arranged and there was sufficient space for everyone to move safely and comfortably.

The pink ceiling, white herringbone tiles, and bold neon signage created a visually striking and memorable setting that felt aligned with the brand’s fun, energetic identity. A large mural and cohesive color palette added to the immersive atmosphere.

Lighting and sound were both standouts, enhancing the experience without distraction. While there was some patchwork visible on the ceiling, it didn’t detract from the overall aesthetic. The studio felt fresh, upbeat, and well put together from start to finish.

The Facilities And Public Areas

Public areas at The Studio MDR Playa Vista were clean, thoughtfully designed, and strongly aligned with the brand’s aesthetic. From the moment we arrived, the bold pink accents, motivational wall signage, and high-quality branded apparel on display created a welcoming and modern environment. The waiting area was spacious and comfortable with music at an appropriate volume and no safety concerns noted.

Although there were no lockers or shower facilities, the bathrooms and changing areas were clean, bright, and stylishly designed with white tile, gold accents, and stocked amenities like hair ties, lotion, and deodorant. Workout towels were not complimentary and had to be purchased.

Free water was available from a refill station, and a small retail section offered additional drinks like Celsius and Koia as well as protein bars. While the space lacked wet area facilities and free towel service, the high-end design and fresh, brand-consistent atmosphere left a strong impression.

Digital And Technology

Booking a class at The Studio MDR Playa Vista was stress-free, with a polished and easy-to-navigate website and branded app that made the experience feel professional from the start. Emails and digital communications reflected the studio’s strong identity through consistent use of their pink, black, and white color scheme, along with sharp images of the space and workouts. Class types were clearly explained, and helpful onboarding details were included to prepare first-time visitors. Confirmation and cancellation policies were clearly communicated, giving a confident and clear path to class.

The website stood out with its sleek design and on-brand energy, featuring coach bios, the studio’s mission, and a motivating tone throughout. It was easy to view the schedule, read class descriptions, and access key information, including directions and account setup. While the studio’s social media had relevant info and an accurate portrayal of the in-person experience, the visual branding wasn’t entirely consistent due to the use of varied fonts and some text-heavy posts.

Overall, this was a highly impressive digital journey that combined clarity, convenience, and style. The mix of personalized emails, strong branding, and layered tech—like FitGrid for class tracking—left a confident impression and set the tone for a professional, engaging studio experience.
