The SoulCycle Story

SoulCycle is considered by many to be the indoor cycling brand. Their first Manhattan studio opened back in ‘06 and started an indoor cycling revolution that paved the way for other premium fitness brands and concepts. Right after launch classes were quickly waitlisted, and it was clear that founders Elizabeth Cutler, Julie Rice and Ruth Zukerman were onto something special.

SouCycle was later acquired by Equinox in 2011, which helped turbocharge their expansion to over 100 studios in the US, Canada and the UK. They’re famous for their candlelit studios, bike choreography and instructors that are as much MCs and DJs as they are fitness professionals.

What to Expect From A SoulCycle Brentwood Session

SoulCycle is a premium indoor cycling offering that delivers soulful, music-driven rides in a fun and nightclub-like environment. Their “boundary-pushing” workout is designed to uplift and empower in an environment that’s inclusive and non-judgmental. During the class, everyone cycles in time with the beat of the music, creating an in-sync unity and vibe that’s made it world-renowned.

They often host themed rides featuring specific artists—for example, a Beyoncé vs. Jay-Z class—and each instructor is well-known for their unique music selection.

If you’re a first timer to SoulCycle, we recommend seeking out a class or instructor that you vibe with and who shares your taste in music.

The Reception Service

The phone inquiry was warm and informative, providing a great introduction to the studio’s atmosphere, class structure, and pricing options. The staff member’s enthusiasm left us excited and prepared for our visit.

Upon arrival, the receptionist welcomed us, acknowledged it was our first visit, and gave a helpful orientation. He explained the shoe rental policy and showed us the locker rooms and studio.

At departure, we weren’t asked about our experience, but when we inquired about pricing, the receptionist confidently explained the packages and best-value options. While there was no proactive push to encourage us to return, the interaction was friendly and informative.

The Class Experience

SoulCycle Brentwood received our Class Experience Award of Excellence.

The playlist was uplifting, the atmosphere electric, and the rhythm riding added energy to the session. Our instructor kept the motivation high, moving around the room instead of leading from the bike.

Instructions were clear, and the class flowed smoothly with consistent timing and encouragement. The cooldown helped lower the energy, though the warmup felt rushed and intense.

While enjoyable, first-timers weren’t acknowledged or engaged directly, and there was no pre-class introduction or follow-up. Despite this, the coach's upbeat attitude and the supportive community made for a positive experience.

The Equipment And Studio

The training area at SoulCycle Brentwood created an immersive experience with motivational quotes, signature branding, and dynamic lighting that matched the music. The studio was clean, spacious, and comfortable, offering a safe space to move.

The equipment was top-quality, with well-maintained bikes, weights, and dumbbells of varying sizes for all levels. Everything was organized and fully stocked.

The lighting and sound systems stood out, enhancing the workout environment and adding to the energetic vibe. The clean floors and design touches made the space feel polished and well thought out.

The Facilities And Public Areas

Public areas at SoulCycle Brentwood were modern, clean, and energized, with strong branding elements like logos, quotes, and a neon sign creating a recognizable identity. The space maintained a professional, minimalist aesthetic with bright lighting.

Toilets and showers were in excellent condition, and grooming areas offered a solid range of neatly presented amenities. Free towels were provided for both workouts and showers, and complimentary water was available from a spout, with boxed water for purchase. No additional food or beverage options were offered.

The sleek, well-lit changing rooms had lockers located in a narrow hallway, too small for larger bags. The limited seating in the waiting area, combined with the narrow layout, made it challenging to move through and find a spot.

Digital And Technology

Booking a class at SoulCycle Brentwood was easy thanks to their intuitive website and app. The process was smooth and bug-free, with a confirmation email providing all the necessary details and a clear cancellation policy.

The website was polished, offering useful information like instructor bios, class descriptions, and the brand’s story. The signature SoulCycle tone was consistent across the site, and the “Schedule” button made booking quick and easy. Their Instagram was regularly updated and aligned with the brand.

Overall, the seamless digital experience, combined with rhythm technology in class, elevated the overall experience and got us excited for our visit.
