The SoulCycle Story

SoulCycle is considered by many to be the indoor cycling brand. Their first Manhattan studio opened back in ‘06 and started an indoor cycling revolution that paved the way for other premium fitness brands and concepts. Right after launch classes were quickly waitlisted, and it was clear that founders Elizabeth Cutler, Julie Rice and Ruth Zukerman were onto something special.

SouCycle was later acquired by Equinox in 2011, which helped turbocharge their expansion to over 100 studios in the US, Canada and the UK. They’re famous for their candlelit studios, bike choreography and instructors that are as much MCs and DJs as they are fitness professionals.

The Highlights

The lighting, sound system, and branded equipment created a fun, immersive workout experience.

The easy-to-use booking system and high-energy email communications also stood out, helping us feel prepped and excited before stepping into the studio.

What Our Evaluator Had To Say

"The lights on the main stage dimmed and pulsed to the beat of the music—it made the whole class feel like a party!"

"Booking my class was so smooth, and the confirmation email had everything I needed. It totally hyped me up for my first visit!"

"The SoulCycle branding was everywhere—on the walls, the merch, the bikes. It really made the space feel unified and energetic."

What to Expect From A SoulCycle Brentwood Session

SoulCycle is a 45-minute indoor cycling experience that fuses rhythm-based choreography, high-energy playlists, and powerful coaching to create a full-body, cardio-intensive workout. Each class is designed to sync movement with music, beginning with a warm-up and building through hills, sprints, and upper-body training before ending with a restorative stretch.

Set in a dark, club-like studio, the atmosphere feels more like a dance party than a traditional workout. Riders move through positions on the bike—like first and second position—to engage different muscle groups and maximize performance. With themed rides like Hip Hop Wednesday, SoulSurvivor, and Taylor Swift vs Tate McRae vs Sabrina Carpenter, every session delivers a unique and motivating experience.

With a focus on music, movement, and community, SoulCycle Brentwood offers an uplifting and inclusive space to sweat, connect, and ride to the beat—whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned rider.

The Reception Service

The phone inquiry was warm and informative, giving us a great introduction to the brand. The staff member provided a clear overview of the studio’s atmosphere, class structure, and pricing options, leading the conversation with confidence and enthusiasm, which left us feeling excited and prepared for the visit.

On arrival, we were greeted promptly by a friendly receptionist who acknowledged that it was our first visit and guided us through the orientation process. He offered helpful directions, explained the cycling shoe rental policy, and showed us where the locker rooms and studio were located.

At departure, we weren’t approached by staff or asked how the session went. However, when we asked about pricing, the receptionist provided knowledgeable and confident guidance on packages and explained the best-value options. While no proactive effort was made to encourage us to return or help us select a suitable plan, the interaction felt friendly and informative, with no pressure to commit.

The Class Experience

SoulCycle Brentwood received our Class Experience Award of Excellence.

We had a fun, high-energy class experience at SoulCycle Brentwood. The playlist was uplifting, the atmosphere was electric, and the synchronized rhythm riding added a vibrant edge to the session. Our instructor brought strong energy and motivation throughout, even while moving around the room rather than simply riding the lead bike herself.

Instructions were clear, the class flowed smoothly, and participants were guided through the workout with consistent timing cues and encouragement. We appreciated the use of music to drive the format and the structured cooldown that helped bring the energy down gently. If we were to pick bones, the warmup felt rushed and too intense from the start, leaving little time to ease into the workout.

Although the class was enjoyable overall, first-timers like us weren’t acknowledged or engaged directly. There was no pre-class introduction or follow-up after class, and the coach didn’t attempt to connect with us individually. That said, her upbeat attitude and the supportive community vibe in the room helped carry the experience.

The Equipment And Studio

The training area at SoulCycle Brentwood delivered a strong visual and sensory experience, with motivational quotes on the walls, signature branding throughout, and dynamic lighting that synced with the music. The studio was clean, comfortable, and had plenty of space to move safely and confidently.

We noted that all equipment was in excellent condition and clearly high quality, with SoulCycle branding on the bikes and weights. Dumbbells of varying sizes were available for all ability levels, and everything was well-organized and fully stocked.

The lighting and sound systems were especially impressive, helping to elevate the workout environment and create an immersive vibe that we loved. From the clean floors to the thoughtful design touches, this was a highly impressive setup. Top marks!

The Facilities And Public Areas

Public areas were modern, fresh, and clean, with strong branding elements including logos, quotes, and a neon sign that gave the studio an energetic and recognizable identity. The space maintained a professional tone and was thoughtfully styled, with bright lighting and a minimalist aesthetic. Toilets and showers were in excellent condition, and the grooming areas offered a solid range of neatly presented amenities.

Free towels were available for both workouts and showers, all clean and in good condition. Complimentary water was provided from a spout, and boxed water was available for purchase. However, no additional beverage or food options were offered. The changing rooms were sleek and well-lit, though the lockers were located outside in a narrow hallway and were too small to comfortably fit larger bags.

One drawback was the lack of space and seating. The narrow layout made it tricky to move through the locker area, and the waiting room only had limited seating despite large class sizes.

Digital And Technology

Booking a class at SoulCycle Brentwood was a super easy, thanks to their intuitive website and well-designed app. The booking process was smooth, bug-free, and could be completed with just a few taps. A confirmation email was sent right away and included key information to help us feel prepared for our visit. The tone of the messaging matched SoulCycle’s high-energy, confident brand identity, and the cancellation policy, while a bit buried in the email attachment, was clearly communicated.

Their website was polished and packed with useful details. We found bios for instructors, class descriptions, directions, and even a full page dedicated to the brand’s story and values. SoulCycle’s signature tone carried through the site, and the “Schedule” button made it easy to jump into booking. Their Instagram page was on-brand and up-to-date, with helpful links and consistent posts that gave us a solid feel for the studio vibe.

Overall, the seamless tech experience—from booking to branding—left us feeling impressed and excited for our visit. SoulCycle’s rhythm technology added a standout layer to the in-class experience and showed how digital tools can elevate both functionality and atmosphere.
