BoxUnion offers a variety of formats, including their Signature class—combining shadowboxing, heavy bag work, HIIT, and bodyweight strength training. Other formats like Box + Lift and Mitts + HIIT add focused strength rounds, YBells, mitt work, and boxer-style circuit training. Other class options include Box + Sculpt, which incorporates Pilates-style mat work to enhance balance, flexibility, and muscular endurance.

The Reception Service

When we called the club, we received clear information about the class format, facilities, and pricing. The receptionist was polite and professional, but rather than offer a full overview of what to expect, we were referred to the website.

At the studio, we were warmly greeted. The receptionist acknowledged it was our first time and gave us a helpful, unrushed tour, showing us where to store belongings, find amenities, and our training spot. The space was clean, calm, and well-organized, and we felt fully prepared for the session.

After class, she checked in, explained membership options clearly, offered a same-day discount, and even volunteered to call later to assist. Her warm, thoughtful approach made it easy to picture ourselves coming back.

The Class Experience

BoxUnion Sherman Oaks received our Class Experience Award of Excellence.

The class delivered a high-energy, positive experience with strong engagement and a motivating atmosphere. We were welcomed warmly, and the coach made an effort to learn our names and give a quick induction on key movements. Instructions were clear, regressions were offered when needed, and individual corrections were helpful.

The coach maintained a strong presence, offering encouragement throughout, and the playlist kept the mood upbeat. However, there was no clear overview of the class structure or timing, and no formal injury check or follow-up with first-timers.

Despite these minor gaps, the workout flowed well, the coach stayed available after class, and the inclusive group atmosphere made for an enjoyable, motivating experience.

The Equipment And Studio

The training space at BoxUnion Sherman Oaks was clean, comfortable, and professionally presented. Equipment was in excellent condition and suited a range of ability levels, with clearly defined, fully stocked stations that kept the workout flow smooth.

The blue lighting added strong brand identity and created a vibrant, energetic feel. Walls, ceilings, and the training floor were spotless and well-maintained, and the temperature stayed comfortable throughout the session.

While the studio design wasn’t particularly striking and equipment lacked branding, the lighting and sound system elevated the atmosphere. Overall, the space felt fresh, functional, and high-quality, setting the stage for a great class experience.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The public areas at BoxUnion Sherman Oaks were clean, well-kept, and thoughtfully organized, creating a fresh, professional environment. Clear branding, motivational signage, and a comfortable (though small) waiting area helped set the tone, and the club was easy to find from the street.

Changing areas were tidy and stocked with branded amenities like lotions and dry shampoo. Showers had good pressure and temperature, though minor cleanliness issues like loose handles and stray hair were noted. Lockers were clean and had combination locks but lacked hangers. Complimentary shower towels were neatly folded, but no workout towels, hairdryers, or seating were provided.

A water refill station and bottled water were available, but no snacks or extra beverages. Small upgrades and a few touch-ups would have taken the experience to the next level.

Digital And Technology

The digital experience at the club made a strong first impression, with a clean, intuitive booking process that felt smooth and reliable. The website was professionally designed, aligned with the brand’s identity, and packed with essentials like class descriptions, instructor bios, and directions, helping us feel well-prepared and excited for our visit.

Emails following booking were informative and visually branded, though no receipt was sent and the tone of voice was inconsistent, slightly detracting from the polished flow. Social media captured the client experience well, but inconsistent fonts on Instagram made the page feel a little off-brand.

While the club didn’t use in-class tech, it offered a well-built app and on-demand training for added flexibility. Overall, the smooth booking and strong digital presence created a highly impressive journey despite a few minor issues.
