BodyFit Training (commonly known as ‘BFT’), founded in 2017 by Cameron Falloon and Richard Burnet in Australia, is a leading fitness franchise that specializes in cardio and strength training.

Since its launch, BFT has experienced rapid expansion, with locations now spanning across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. BFT was acquired by Xponential Fitness in 2022 but as part of the acquisition deal, Bodyfit Training retained the rights to franchise the BFT brand globally, excluding North America. Operating on a franchise model, Bodyfit Training upholds fairness as a key value when operating with franchisees and clients.

What to Expect From A BFT Santa Monica Session

Body Fit Training (BFT) is a science-backed group strength training program built for all fitness levels. Each 50-minute session is led by 2–3 highly accredited coaches, creating a motivating, supportive environment with personalized guidance and expert instruction throughout.

The Reception Service

We were unable to reach the studio by phone despite a few tries.

Upon arrival, we received a warm welcomed by the coach at the front desk, who greeted us by name and immediately made us feel comfortable. She managed both coaching and reception duties with ease, taking the time to give us an unrushed and thoughtful orientation of the space. Although registration took a little longer than ideal, her helpful nature and warm energy made it feel smooth and relaxed.

After class, the coach approached us personally to check in and congratulate us on our effort. She recommended another class we might enjoy and clearly tailored her suggestions to our interests, which was appreciated. She also walked us through the membership options with confidence, showing a strong desire to help us continue training at the studio. Her ability to balance roles while delivering such personalized service left us with a great impression and made us feel eager to try another class.

The Class Experience

BFT Santa Monica received our Class Experience Award of Excellence.

Our coach greeted everyone warmly before class, taking time to check in with each participant and get to know our experience levels. As first-timers, we appreciated the extra care and attention. She explained the structure clearly, guided us through the setup, and offered hands-on corrections and encouragement throughout. The use of timers and visuals on-screen helped keep things clear and easy to follow, and her energy and professionalism created a motivating vibe.

During the workout, she moved around the room constantly, checking form, offering progressions or regressions, and delivering encouragement with a personal touch. It was clear she was invested in everyone’s success and took time to make sure the class was appropriately challenging without ever feeling overwhelming. We also appreciated her tips, thoughtful follow-ups, and a well-structured cooldown at the end.

The only downside was that the class started and ended seven minutes late, which wasn’t acknowledged. Still, this was a strong, engaging session with a coach who clearly cares and connects with her class. We left feeling supported, challenged, and excited to come back.

The Equipment And Studio

The training floor at BFT Santa Monica offered a professional and immersive workout environment. Strength and cardio equipment were clean, in excellent working order, and sourced from reputable brands like Concept 2. We loved seeing the BFT branding throughout—from logos on the equipment to wall graphics—which added a strong sense of identity. Although the kettlebells showed some paint chipping, all equipment functioned well and felt reliable.

The space was laid out in a way that felt open and organized, with enough equipment to accommodate everyone comfortably. There was a full range of weights and options for all levels, and the area remained fresh, well-lit, and temperature-controlled. A high-quality sound system further elevated the atmosphere, keeping the energy high throughout class.

While the overall environment was well-maintained, we did notice a bit of leftover sweat on some equipment from a previous session. A quick wipe-down between classes would have been appreciated! This minor issue aside, the equipment, branding, and setup made for a strong, high-level experience.

The Facilities And Public Areas

Public areas at BFT Santa Monica were clean, well-organized, and professional, with a fresh feel throughout the space. Branded workout gear for sale and strong logo presence on signage and equipment helped reinforce the studio’s identity. However, while branding was consistent, the interior design lacked standout elements that would elevate the atmosphere even further.

Shower and grooming amenities were a plus, with thoughtful touches like face wash, moisturizer, and body lotion, though the presentation felt a bit mismatched between bathrooms. Complimentary shower and workout towels were available and in good condition, but they were stored under a bench and not attractively arranged. Storage was limited to open cubbies—no lockers or hanging options were provided.

A free water refill station was available, but no other beverage or snack options were on offer. Small details like clearly labeled towel bins and a more cohesive display of amenities would help tighten the overall experience. Despite these minor gripes, the setting felt professional, polished, and easy to navigate.

Digital And Technology

We found the booking process was easy and intuitive, with a sleek branded app and website that made reserving a class feel seamless. The site was polished and aligned with the brand’s look and tone, while email communications stood out for their clarity and personality—complete with logos, brand colors, and vibrant imagery. We felt well-informed about our booking and policies like cancellations.

One standout was the use of heart rate monitoring tech during class, which added a fun, competitive layer to the experience. Body composition tracking was also available, showing a commitment to progress-focused tools. The club’s social media channels were well-maintained, on-brand, and frequently updated with class schedules and behind-the-scenes content.

A small improvement would be to include arrival timing or onboarding info in confirmation emails to better prepare first-timers. Still, the tech-forward, user-friendly systems—along with engaging branded communication—left us feeling excited and well-prepped for our visit.
