What sets Basecamp apart is its coach-led approach, with personalized guidance, movement options, and a huge variety of strength workouts—over 160 in total. Each session wraps up with optional core work and recovery time, helping you build endurance, burn fat, and move better in a motivating, supportive atmosphere.

The Reception Service
Our reception experience at Basecamp Santa Monica left a strong impression. The phone call was informative, covering class details, memberships, and amenities. While professional, the tone felt a bit transactional, and an early referral to the website didn’t make for the warmest first touch. A more personal intro to the studio’s concept could’ve built more excitement.
At the studio, we were greeted promptly and recognized as first-timers. The team guided us to our station, adjusted our setup, and clearly explained the class format. Registration was quick, and while we weren’t shown the locker or bathroom areas, the overall welcome felt friendly and engaging. We appreciated being asked about ourselves—it was clear the team cared about making us feel comfortable.
After class, we were asked how we enjoyed the session and invited to upcoming events. The new client promo was explained clearly, and the follow-up felt genuine without being pushy. A billing issue was handled efficiently, though a quick apology would’ve left an even better impression. Overall, the warm service and thoughtful approach made our first visit a memorable one.

The Class Experience
Basecamp Santa Monica received our Class Experience Award of Excellence making it one of LA's stand-out offerings.
The coach made a genuine effort to connect with everyone in the room, greeting us individually, remembering names, and checking in with new participants after class. We really appreciated the personalized intro—they took time before the session to ask about our fitness background and goals, which helped us feel confident going in.
Instructions were clearly explained through both verbal cues and on-screen guidance, and the class flowed smoothly from start to finish. Energy and encouragement stayed high, though there were a few areas for improvement—namely, no warm-up, no structured breaks, and a lack of regressions or progressions for different levels. That said, we received helpful feedback on form, and the coach stayed active on the floor to support us.

The Equipment And Studio
We were impressed with the equipment and studio environment at this location. The strength and cardio gear was clean, high quality, and in good working order, with only minor signs of wear like small chips and scratches. The floor layout was practical, with well-spaced stations and enough equipment for everyone, making it accessible for all fitness levels.
The space felt fresh and comfortable, with good lighting and ventilation. A vibrant mural of the Santa Monica Pier added a fun, local touch, while motivational chalkboard messages brought extra energy and a sense of community.

The Facilities And Public Areas
The public areas were clean, professional, and filled with natural light, creating a warm and welcoming feel. The layout was easy to navigate, and the grooming and bathroom amenities were well-stocked and nicely presented. Showers were clean with steady water pressure and a full range of toiletries.
Branding, however, was minimal, and the interior design—while orderly—lacked standout features. Extras like mirrors in the changing area, more distinctive décor, or branded touches would’ve elevated the space. The open cubbies were convenient, but the lack of locks, towels, or hairdryers was a bit limiting.
On the plus side, a complimentary water station was available, along with paid options like Coco and Vital Water, plus energy bars for a quick post-class snack.

Digital And Technology
Booking through the club’s website and app was easy and user-friendly, with clear visuals and an engaging, colorful layout that gave us a solid feel for what to expect. Class types and schedules were easy to access, and the design felt consistent across platforms. The social media presence stood out, with up-to-date posts and a look that reflected the brand well.
That said, we ran into a couple of issues. A “seven days for seven dollars” promo was featured on the homepage, but we couldn’t purchase it after creating an account and had to go with a standard package instead. Emails felt generic and lacked the brand’s tone, missing helpful details like arrival times or cancellation policies that would’ve helped us feel more prepared.
