The UN1T Story

UN1T was founded in 2017 by Rob Smyth, who took his vast experience in fitness and training to create an effective and efficient 12-week cycle. The first location opened in London, with an international franchise opening in Munich just over a year later.

The popular strength and conditioning franchise has since expanded into other markets such as Australia and the Middle East, with more territories due to open soon.

How Did UN1T Southwark Score Overall?

The full client experience at UN1T Southwark was great, achieving The Fit Guide Award Of Excellence.

The class itself was a highlight of our visit and won our highest accolade, the 5-Star Class Experience Award.

The Highlights

The group class experience, run by two energetic and professional coaches, was a strong highlight of the overall experience.

The community vibe and the strong sense of brand were also positives.

What Our Evaluator Had To Say

“The main coach had great energy, was very encouraging. She was clearly present during the session.”

“The coaches did a great job of making us first-timers feel taken care of both before and after the session.”

“Being able to use a Theragun free of charge at the end of the class was a highlight.”

What To Expect From A UN1T Session

At UN1T, they “ train as one”. The community-focused classes offer strength-based workouts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with more conditioning heavy classes on Tuesday and Thursday. Their programming is offered in 12-week phases, split into 4 weeks of hypertrophy, 4 weeks of strength work and 4 weeks of power.

Sessions are 60 minutes long and use machines such as rowers, air bikes and SkiErgs for the conditioning component, and free weights such as barbells, kettlebells and dumbbells for the strength work.

Stats and weights are recorded and tracked using UN1T’s technology to ensure your performance is heading in the right direction.

The Reception Service

When we showed up 45 minutes before class, staff were warm and welcoming. Even though the club technically opens 30 minutes prior to class, we were happily let in and made to feel comfortable.

The check-in process was smooth and friendly. We were acknowledged quickly and given a helpful orientation covering the key areas of the studio. The team took time to ask about our training background and held a relaxed, genuine conversation. We appreciated the thoughtful moment when the receptionist let us borrow a reusable water bottle rather than upselling u.

After class, the coach checked in with us and made sure we’d had a good time. Although we felt welcomed and appreciated, there wasn’t much of a push to get us booked in again. When we asked about packages, the staff only mentioned the intro offer and suggested we check online for more info.

The Class Experience

UN1T Southwark achieved The Fit Guide 5-Star Class Experience award for an exceptional class, putting it amongst the very best in London and the industry.

From start to finish, this was a well-executed and high-energy session that delivered both structure and motivation. The format was clearly explained at the beginning, the pacing was spot-on, and the class flowed seamlessly with the help of visual timers and screens that kep us all on on track. We really appreciated how the coaches made an effort to chat before class, ask about our background, and check in after the cool down to see how we got on.

Throughout the session, we felt encouraged and supported, especially during challenging moments like the final reps of the chin-ups. While we would’ve liked more individual feedback on form and technique—and a few more regressions and progressions to suit different levels—the overall experience was strong and professional. The coaches’ presence on the floor, their enthusiasm, and their eye for detail made the class feel dynamic and well-led.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio was spotlessly clean, well-organized, and clearly designed with performance in mind. From the sleek barbell racks to the multiple band options for chin-ups, everything was neatly arranged and easy to access. We loved the attention to detail—like the intuitive placement of clips and branded touches across the squat racks and kettlebells, which added to the professional, high-performance vibe.

Top-tier equipment from Concept2 and Assault Fitness filled the space, all in excellent condition and ready to go. The lighting felt purposeful and the layout gave us plenty of room to move without ever feeling cramped. With a sharp sound system, a fresh and energizing environment, and branding that carried through every inch of the space, the training floor hit all the right notes. We enjoyed the free usage of Theraguns available for some post-workout therapy.

The Facilities And Public Areas

Public areas at UN1T Southwark were clean, well-maintained, and carried a professional tone throughout. The branding was bold and consistent, from floor-to-ceiling windows and large logos to motivational wall quotes and neatly presented towels at reception. The layout felt fresh and functional, though the small waiting area with limited seating meant we were invited to stretch or warm up on the training floor pre-class, which helped make the most of the space.

Lockers were available in multiple sizes, secured by digital code locks and in excellent condition. Both shower and workout towels were complimentary, clean, and easy to access. The changing and bathroom areas were tidy and stocked with thoughtful amenities like moisturiser, cotton buds, and deodorant, although the design was more functional than luxurious.

Water was freely available via a tap near reception, but there were no food or drink options for sale.

Digital And Technology

Booking a session at UN1T Southwark was simple and user-friendly, with both the website and app offering smooth functionality and immediate confirmations. The site was easy to navigate and clearly laid out class types, the schedule, and directions to the club. We appreciated the brand’s strong, results-driven tone and felt well prepared for our visit.

Social media was well-maintained and gave an accurate feel for what to expect, with regular posts and solid visual consistency. The in-class use of MyZone tech added a professional and engaging touch to the training experience.
