How Did Orangetheory Wandsworth Score Overall?
The full client experience at Orangetheory Wandsworth was impressive, achieving The Fit Guide 4-Star Award.
The class was also very good, achieving our 4-Star Class Experience Award.
The Highlights
The technology offered through the experience, from the body composition beforehand to track goals, to the heart rate tracking tech offered during the workout, helped it really stand out.
What Our Evaluator Had To Say
“The technology was very cool, and the coach did a great job of explaining it.”
“They took a lot of care to get to know about me and my goals before I started my first session.”
“I enjoyed the cardio and strength training balance offered in the class.”
What To Expect From A Orangetheory Session
An Orangetheory Fitness class is a 60-minute session that incorporates running, rowing and strength training. The running component typically includes high and low-intensity intervals and inclines and can sometimes include up to 30 minutes. For the rowing section, you’ll use OTF’s trademark orange water rowers, which mimic the sensation and drag of real rowing. Strength training uses dumbbells and TRXs, amongst other tools, to work and fatigue your muscles.
Technology plays a big part in the experience, with each participant being offered an arm strap that accurately monitors your heart rate throughout the session, displaying your stats on screens throughout the studio which the coach will use to educate and motivate. Their stated goal is for you to spend 12 minutes or more with your heart rate in “The Orange Zone”, which they report boosts your metabolism, burns fat and burns more calories, even after the workout.
The motivating and supportive coaches and community round off an experience that can be tough and challenging if you want it to be, but is also suitable and scalable for all levels.
The Reception Service
Our pre-visit call to the branch was excellent, with the staff showing genuine interest in the client and answering any questions we had very well. We were left feeling fully prepared and excited for our visit.
Upon arrival, the reception team were very friendly and asked us lots of questions and took great care in getting to know all about our training history and goals. During the body composition scan, a lot of personal information was required to be entered as part of the process.
The Class Experience
Orangetheory Wandsworth received The Fit Guide 4-Star Class Experience Award, making it one of London’s stand-out offerings.
The workout was enjoyable and varied, and the coach was very encouraging throughout, ensuring he took care to remember and use our name. At some stages, the timings for the sets and intervals were difficult to follow.
The Equipment And Studio
The studio was well spaced, with plenty of available equipment. The look and feel was very much in line with the Orangetheory brand.
The Facilities And Public Areas
Shower towels were provided free of charge, although workout towels were not. Lockers were provided with key locks. Free water refill stations were available.
All of the public areas had clear Orangetheory branding throughout, with plenty of signature orange throughout the club. Beyond this, the architectural and interior design of the club did not particularly stand out.
Digital And Technology
Classes could be booked easily through the app or website, although a confirmation email of the booking was not sent to us. The club’s website was easy to navigate but did lack some key features, such as bios on the coaches.
The in-class technology was very impressive, with heart rate straps, screens throughout the studio displaying stats and monitors on the cardio machines digging deeper into the data. The coach did an excellent job of explaining the functionality and benefits.
