“The reception team was very welcoming.”
What To Expect From A KXU HIIT & Run Session
KXU’s HIIT & Run class is an even split between treadmill interval running on Woodway treadmills, coupled with strength and cardio exercises using bodyweight and freeweights.
The 50-minute classes are supported by top coaches, a powerful sound system and atmospheric lighting.
The Reception Service
The reception experience at KXU Chelsea started off strong, with information shared over the phone call clear and helpful, giving us a good sense of what to expect, though a little more warmth and enthusiasm would have made the conversation feel more inviting.
Arriving at the club, we were welcomed with warmly and had an efficient check-in process. When it became clear that it was our first visit, the team offered a calm, unrushed orientation that explained where everything was, from the lockers to the studio, which instantly helped us feel more comfortable. Their reassurance before class, especially after we mentioned being a little nervous, created a positive and welcoming tone.
After class, no one asked how we’d found the session, and there wasn’t much proactive effort to guide us toward booking more classes or learning about memberships. When we prompted for information, the receptionist was knowledgeable and able to explain the options, but the initiative had to come from us.
The Class Experience
KXU Chelsea received The Fit Guide Class Experience Award of Excellence, making it one of London’s stand-out offerings.
The class was a strong experience overall, with a positive vibe and a format that felt approachable even for someone trying new equipment and exercises. The session kicked off with a warm hello from the coach, who immediately made us feel welcome and explained some basic rules, setting the tone for what to expect. While the overall structure of the class wasn’t clearly outlined up front, it was still easy to follow once things got underway, thanks to clear instructions and smooth pacing.
Once in motion, the class flowed really well. The coach kept things engaging with a mix of treadmill work and floor exercises, offering regressions and speed options to suit different levels. There was plenty of attention to form, with discreet corrections that felt supportive rather than intrusive, and a positive energy that reassured us we were in capable hands.
The class wrapped up on a high note with a structured cooldown and a friendly group clap to finish. That said, there was room for a little more personal engagement—no check-in on how we’d found the session or one-on-one encouragement during class. Still, the atmosphere was upbeat and social, with a real sense of community in the room, making the overall experience feel motivating and memorable.
The Equipment And Studio
The studio made a solid impression, with equipment that was clearly high quality and well taken care of. Everything we used, from the Woodway treadmills to the weights, was clean, in good condition, and set up in a way that made the class feel organized and easy to navigate. Even small details like the lighting adjustments during the workout helped create the right atmosphere for each stage of the session.
The combination of a spotless setup, a great sound system, and plenty of room to move around made the workout experience smooth and enjoyable.
The Facilities And Public Areas
The public areas at KXU Chelsea impressed with a polished and on-brand design, blending industrial chic touches like exposed brick, rose gold lockers, and statement lighting with plenty of branding moments, from motivational slogans to branded towels. The reception space felt lively and inviting, with a marble-fronted desk and music adding to the energy, while thoughtful details like a smoothie and juice bar gave the space a premium, social vibe.
The changing areas were clean and had some stylish touches, but they lacked space and a few practical amenities. With only two benches and some showers missing hot water, it felt a little cramped and occasionally inconvenient, especially during busier times. Despite that, the overall cleanliness, free towels, and handy water stations, along with easy access to snacks and smoothies, kept the experience feeling well cared for and enjoyable.
Digital And Technology
The digital and tech experience at KXU Chelsea left a strong impression, starting with a polished and professional website. Everything was easy to follow from purchasing classes to branded confirmation emails. The app mirrored that smooth experience.
There was good detail on the website too, with coach bios, class descriptions, and schedules all easy to find, but it would have been even better if the site linked directly to their social media pages. Socials were consistent with the brand and did a good job of showcasing the KXU vibe.
The club's 'KXU Online' offering, with options for online Pilates, yoga, HIIT and strength was notable.
