The Karve Story

Karve was founded in 2020 by Yulia Pashevkina, with a vision of bringing something new to London’s Pilates scene. Yulia took inspiration from the vibrant New York Pilates concepts, with atmospherically-lit rooms, high-end spring loaded reformers and an unmistakable vibe.

As Karve says, they offer “Pilates classes that capture New York’s infectious energy, tailored to London lifestyles.”

What To Expect From A Karve Session

The Karve experience offers something different to the London Pilates fitness scene, with dark rooms, loud music and an urban loft style design. There are only 12 reformer beds per class, giving the instructor more time to offer personalized attention and coaching.

Classes are 50 minutes long and are designed to be intense, but easy on your joints. Their sessions go beyond the physical, with each class ending with five minutes of mindfulness and breath work, to wind down the session and offer an escape from the fast pace of London life.

The Reception Service

The phone call to Karve Notting Hill set things up nicely. The information was clear and packed with useful details about the classes and facilities. While it could have used a bit more spark to get us really excited, we hung up feeling prepared for our first visit.

Arriving at the club was a warm experience, with a friendly welcome that made it easy to shake off any nerves. The orientation was simple but effective, pointing us toward the lockers, showers and changing areas without feeling rushed

When we left, there was a genuine effort to chat about how we found the class, which we appreciated. There wasn’t a big push to suggest packages or memberships, but when we asked, the options were explained clearly and confidently. A little more curiosity about what we were looking for would have rounded out what was otherwise a friendly and smooth front desk experience.

The Class Experience

The class at Karve Notting Hill packed a punch – it was intense, challenging, and left us feeling like we’d definitely come back for more. The flow of the workout was clear, the instructions made sense, and the focus on good form meant we could push ourselves without feeling like we were guessing.

That said, as first-timers, we would have loved a bit more engagement before the class kicked off. A quick check-in or extra touchpoint could have made things feel more personal and less like we were diving straight in. While the induction was helpful, it was fast-paced, and we found ourselves scrambling to keep up in the beginning.

Once things got going though, the session felt strong and structured. There were thoughtful corrections throughout, and our instructor's confidence kept the class moving. It wasn’t the warmest or most community-driven vibe we’ve ever felt, but it was a solid, sweat-filled workout that delivered exactly what we came for.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio at Karve Notting Hill felt sleek and polished from the moment we walked in. Everything was spotless, and the Pilates machines were in excellent condition, giving the space a professional and high-end feel. The setup of the room made it easy to move around, and the overall design tied in beautifully with the club’s modern, stylish vibe.

The lighting really added to the atmosphere, with the zig-zag ceiling feature and mirrored walls creating a cool, low-lit environment that still felt practical for following along. The branding touches on the walls reinforced the identity of the space without feeling overdone, making the studio feel cohesive with the rest of the club.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The public areas at Karve Notting Hill had a sleek, on-brand look, with moody lighting, dark mirrored panels, and stylish touches like low-hanging bulbs and faux leather stools giving the space a polished edge. The reception had a cool vibe with upbeat music and a zig-zag ceiling light feature tying the design together, while little details like folded towels behind the desk kept things neat and organised.

There were no traditional changing rooms, just two unisex shower/changing cubicles and a couple of toilet stalls, so things felt cramped and not especially private, especially post-class when we needed space to get ready.

On the positive side, lockers were clean, easy to use, and came with free workout and shower towels, and the smoothie and coffee bar was a nice perk.

Digital And Technology

Karve Notting Hill’s digital experience was smooth and well put together, with a clean, on-brand website and app that made booking simple. The process was quick and glitch-free, with instant confirmation emails that helped us feel ready for our visit.

The website looked polished and matched the club’s sleek style, but it could have gone further by adding more details on class types and coach bios, which would have helped first-timers feel more informed. Their Instagram and other social channels were active and packed with sharp, well-shot content that gave a clear picture of what to expect.
