The Foundry Bank Story

Foundry launched in 2015, first as an outdoor bootcamp, before opening their first studio. The founding team of Jean Claude “JC” Vacassin and Ben Gotting had a vision of creating an inclusive, customer-focused experience that would reinvent what it means to be a gym. With a big focus on community and creating a welcoming, non-intimidating environment, Foundry has developed a loyal fan base and has expanded to five locations throughout London.

Foundry is a private members club that focuses on small group personal training, with class sessions offered a supplement to their community.

How Did Foundry Bank Score Overall?

The full client experience at Foundry Bank was excellent, achieving The Fit Guide 4-Star Award.

The class was also very good, winning our Class Experience 4-Star Class Experience Award.

The Highlights

All of the public areas contributed to a premium, ‘members only’ club vibe, with smart and well-designed changing rooms, nice showers and well-stocked amenities. The coach’s energy and attentiveness also contributed to a great experience.

What Our Evaluator Had To Say

“The class was well structured and everyone in the session appeared to have a good time. There was a clear and strong community vibe.”

“The coach was motivating, attentive, and seemed very knowledgeable.”

“The equipment and studio space was on brand, well equipped for a large class and overall in good condition.”

What To Expect From A Foundry Session

Foundry classes are strength and conditioning focused with airbikes, rowers and SkiErgs for the cardio component, alongside tools such as kettlebells, dumbbells, wall balls and sleds for the strength component. Expect a fun, supportive and challenging environment with a strong sense of community and teamwork.

Foundry’s class sessions are offered as a supplement to personal training for their private community, with some slots offered on the ClassPass platform to outside members to experience their concept and community vibe.

The Reception Service

We were unable to speak to the team before our visit, as our calls were not answered.

Foundry is typically a private small group personal training club, so there is not a constantly manned front desk area for ClassPass check-ins. This meant there was no one there on arrival at the club, but once the club’s staff saw us they were friendly, engaging and helpful.

The Class Experience

Foundry Bank received The Fit Guide 4-Star Class Experience Award, making it one of London’s stand-out offerings.

The class was well structured and everyone in the session appeared to have a good time. The coach was motivating, attentive and came across as very knowledgeable on the movements and technique cues.

There was a fun atmosphere and the coach offered a lot of positive encouragement. The music was upbeat and helped contribute to an enjoyable experience, along with the strong community vibe.

The Equipment And Studio

The equipment and studio space were on brand, well equipped and overall in good condition, apart from some minor wear and tear.

The Facilities And Public Areas

Workout and shower towels were provided free of charge. Lockers were provided with number locks. Free water refill stations were available.

The public areas of the gym were all befitting of a high-end club. The showers and changing room were spacious, clean and had a premium feel, and the reception area had some interesting design features and branding points. The selection of drinks, snack bars and capsule coffee rounded off a great experience through all public areas.

Digital And Technology

As Foundry is a members only club with an internal booking system, the class schedule is not available publicly. However, members are able to book classes through the branded Foundry app, or for non-members sessions can be booked through the ClassPass platform.

The club uses MyZone heart rate technology - with participants wearing heart rate monitors with their stats displaying in real time.

Pricing

Foundry Bank offers a 21-day challenge, which includes 6 Small-Group Personal Training sessions, unlimited group classes and a personal fitness evaluation – priced at £150.

For non-members, classes can be booked through the ClassPass platform only.
