F45 - Oxford Circus

London, UK

The F45 Story

F45 is a well-known Australian circuit training franchise founded in 2012 by Rob Deutsch in Sydney. The brand saw rapid expansion and was one of the first boutique franchises to IPO on the New York Stock Exchange in 2019. It has since been delisted from the NYSE and is now under the leadership of Tom Dowd as company president, who has overseen new developments in the concept and partnerships with leading fitness brands such as HYROX and Strava.

F45’s success has received celebrity endorsements from the likes of Hugh Jackman in their early days, as well as Mark Wahlberg, who is also an investor in the company.

Their tagline “Team Training, Life Changing”, is reflected in their community-focused workouts that are catered to all fitness levels.

How Did F45 Oxford Circus Score Overall?

The full client experience at F45 Oxford Circus was impressive, achieving The Fit Guide Award Of Excellence.

The class was also excellent, winning our Class Experience Award of Excellence.

The Highlights

The in-class screens showing exercise demos were a highlight as they added a fun, interactive layer to the workout.

The sleek website and branded app made booking and paying for classes easy and stress-free.

What Our Evaluator Had To Say

“Those demo screens during the workout were great."

“I loved how quick and simple it was to book my class. It only took a minute.”

“The emails and website had such a strong F45 vibe; I knew what to expect before we even walked in.”

What to Expect From A How Did F45 Oxford Circus Session

The name stands for “Functional Training 45”, with sessions being a mix of functional HIIT and strength exercises delivered in a 45-minute format. Each day, the workout is predetermined by F45 HQ in Australia, and is the same at every F45 location across the world.

Their Saturday “Hollywood” sessions are the only 60-minute class and are famous for hiring local DJs to create a party atmosphere and bring the community together.

Workouts are typically run by two or more coaches per class. To support the coach, clients are guided by screens that display each exercise as well as beeps and graphics that cue you to work, rest or move to your next station.

The Reception Service

The phone enquiry was handled with warmth and professionalism. The receptionist asked about our exercise habits, and confidently explained the workouts and pricing.

On arrival, we were promptly greeted in a clean, welcoming reception area. The receptionist introduced herself and acknowledged it was our first visit. Registration was quick, but we would have appreciated a bit more guidance as a first-timer.

The departure felt positive, as our coach stuck around and made it clear they’d be happy to see us return and encouraging us to sign up for the trial. Overall, the experience felt warm, professional, and left a strong first impression.

The Class Experience

F45 Oxford Circus received our Class Experience Award of Excellence.

We had a great time in the class, which felt upbeat and well-organized from start to finish. The coaches greeted us warmly and kept the atmosphere friendly and professional. Instructions were clear and easy to follow, the music kept the energy high, and the class flowed smoothly with well-timed breaks and a solid cooldown.

As a first-timer, we felt looked after, though there were moments where more personal touches could have made the experience stand out more. Our name wasn’t used during the session, and there wasn’t much individual encouragement or check-ins beyond a few helpful adjustments.

Overall, the mix of strong coaching, great pacing, and high energy left us feeling positive and motivated after a really fun and effective workout.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio had everything we needed for a smooth session. All the strength equipment was clean, well-maintained, and of high quality, with the brand’s colors and logos adding a strong visual touch. There was plenty of kit for everyone, and the space was set up thoughtfully, with enough options for all ability levels.

The training area felt fresh and comfortable, with good lighting and a high-quality sound system to keep the energy up. While the design was functional rather than striking, it was easy to move around and use the space safely.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The club was clean and easy to navigate, with branding elements visible throughout to keep the identity consistent. While the design was functional, it lacked any striking or memorable features, and there weren’t strong sensory touches like scent or music to lift the atmosphere.

The changing and grooming areas were tidy and stocked with the essentials, but we found the space to be limited and some areas showed wear. There were no lockers, which made storing belongings less convenient, though fresh workout and shower towels were complimentary and well-presented.

Water fountains and paid drink options were available, but food choices were lacking, and the waiting area felt small with minimal seating. Overall, the space was practical and well-kept, but it could have done with some more thoughtful design elements and amenities.

Digital And Technology

The club’s website gave us a great first impression as it was sharp, professional, and clearly reflected the F45 brand. Booking a class was simple on both the site and the app, and payment was quick and seamless. We could easily see the schedule, read class descriptions, and even check out coach bios, which made us feel prepared for our first visit.

The club’s social media pages matched the energy of the website, staying visually consistent with the brand and packed with useful info. Posts were updated regularly and gave us an accurate sense of what the F45 experience would be like, including class schedules and reminders.
