A big milestone
Australian-born boutique franchise STRONG Pilates has reached an important milestone, opening its 100th studio this month in Garwood, New Jersey, USA.
Founded in 2019 by Michael Ramsey and Mark Armstrong, the concept blends reformer Pilates with cardio and strength training, delivered through its exclusive ‘Rowformer’ and ‘Bikeformer’ machines, which are essentially Concept 2 RowErgs and BikeErgs built into a reformer. The brand now operates across 14 countries, with more than 155 confirmed locations in the US and a target of 300+ global studios within four years.

Rapid international franchise expansion
The Garwood opening marks STRONG’s New Jersey debut and fifth US location, as the brand accelerates its rollout in a fast-paced Pilates market. In partnership with Momentic Studios, STRONG is prioritizing key metropolitan areas including Greater New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Boston and Chicago.
The UK is also a big target market for STRONG, with 50 studios set to open in the next 12 months. On their home turf, the brand has 20 planned clubs across Australia and New Zealand.
In 2024, STRONG announced a deal to open 50 studios in Japan over the next five years, and they have a presence in Singapore with a number of busy, successful studios.

A member survey in March 2025 found that 84% of respondents trained at STRONG specifically for its unique programming, with members attending on average four times per week.

“More than a milestone”
Ramsey and Armstrong, who remain the sole owners of the global business, described the 100-studio mark as “more than a milestone,” highlighting the “relentless drive” of their team and the model’s “longevity, purposeful movement and real results.”
The founders have embraced their position as disruptors in the Pilates space, appealing to a broader audience by integrating high-intensity cardio and strength work into traditional reformer programming.
