The Fit Guide 2026: Pilates Rises In Singapore While Front-of-House Service Ranks Last Globally

SINGAPORE – The Fit Guide (TFG), the global independent rating system for boutique fitness clubs and studios, has officially launched in Singapore for the second time, unveiling updated evaluations of the city’s leading fitness experiences.

Often described as the “Michelin Guide for fitness,” The Fit Guide conducts anonymous, multi-visit evaluations across more than 250 objective standards, assessing the member journey at boutique gyms.

TFG’s 2026 Singapore launch has revealed a market with improving Pilates offerings, but with falling overall standards and the most closures globally. Pilates studios have delivered clear improvements since TFG’s first launch in 2024, with some of the city’s strongest results.

However, front-of-house service standards fell to the lowest level globally, alongside declining class experience scores and the highest studio closure rate of all global markets TFG has visited.

Pilates the standout modality in 2026.

Average scores rising 3.4% to 81.2% and three clubs achieving Five-Star status for Class Experience, compared to none last year. KX Pilates River Valley led the market, earning Five-Star Awards for both Class Experience and Overall Experience.

Barre standards improved

Helped in part by the closure of lower-performing studios since the last evaluation cycle. WeBarre delivered standout results, with Holland Village winning a Five-Star Class Experience Award and Telok Ayer becoming one of only two clubs to achieve Five-Star status for the overall experience.

Front-of-house service fell to a global low

Average pre- and post-class service scores dropping from 70.6% to 68.3%, the lowest of any city evaluated by The Fit Guide.

Class Experience standards declined

Falling from 85.3% to 82.6%, driven by reduced individual coaching, fewer personal corrections, and weaker energy management across multiple modalities.

Overall experience slipped slightly, from 82.0% to 81.2%.

Studio closures outpaced every other market

Approximately 30% of the original 50 clubs assessed now closed between 2024 and 2026. Closures were concentrated among HIIT and strength concepts, followed by cycling studios.

The data points to an inflection point for Singapore’s fitness market: The improvement in Pilates shows that raising standards is still possible, but falling service and class scores elsewhere suggest that human connection, hospitality, and consistency are often letting down the experience in Singapore. For shrewd operators though, this signals a huge opportunity to stand out.

Founder Quotes:

“Singapore is still one of Asia’s most mature and lively fitness markets, but the data shows there’s still a lot of room for improvement. Pilates proved that raising standards is possible even in a tough operating environment, but falling front-of-house service and class experience scores elsewhere show that many clubs are underestimating how much human connection still matters.”

— Jack Thomas, Co-Founder, The Fit Guide

“When front-of-house service slips, it doesn’t matter how good the workout is. The experience feels incomplete. The clubs that are still performing well in Singapore are the ones treating arrival, departure, and post-class moments with the same care as the class itself. That’s basic hospitality, and it’s where the biggest opportunity lies right now.”
