HYROX has officially crossed the 10,000 affiliate mark, doubling its global footprint in under a year. At its current pace, the brand is on track to overtake CrossFit’s estimated 11,000 affiliates, a number that once peaked at 14,000 in 2018.
The brand launched seven years ago, but the scale of growth over the last few years has been striking.
From Niche Race to Global Format
Founded in 2017, HYROX set out to make fitness racing accessible to everyday athletes, with consistent rules, global standards, and mass participation at its core.
A key driver of growth has been the low barrier to entry. At around $1,500 per year, HYROX’s affiliate fee is significantly lower than CrossFit’s estimated $4,500. That affordability has opened the door for thousands of independent gyms to join the movement.
In December 2024, HYROX reported 5,000 Training Clubs. Less than 12 months later, that number has doubled.
Big Brands Fuel Big Growth
HYROX’s momentum isn’t just coming from independent boutique operators. Major gym groups across the globe are now building dedicated HYROX zones across multiple markets.
Key examples include:
- Everlast Gyms: Rolling out 60 HYROX Performance Centers in the UK and Ireland
- Gold’s Gym: Launching HYROX Training Centers in the U.S.
- F45 Training: Integrating HYROX into programming, with many locations becoming official Training Clubs
- GymNation: Adding HYROX zones in the UAE and hosting large-scale events, including at Dubai Active Industry
These partnerships are pushing HYROX from a competitive race format into a mainstream training system — one that spans continents and club models.
How the Model Works
HYROX offers tiered affiliation levels, allowing gyms to choose how deeply they integrate the concept.
- Training Clubs run HYROX classes using the brand’s digital tools and programming
- Performance Centers deliver a full-scale setup with standardized equipment and a full turnkey layout
- Certified Performance Coaches provide branded coaching tied to HYROX race prep and methodology
This structure gives operators flexibility while keeping the experience consistent across thousands of sites.
The Fitness Racing Leader
HYROX has carved out a unique position by combining competition, training, and community into one scalable ecosystem. The format gives members a clear goal, and gives gyms a defined, event-based system to build around.
As fitness racing continues to grow — and as more brands enter the space — HYROX remains at the center of the movement.
But the pace of growth raises a key question:
Can HYROX maintain quality and consistency at scale, across a network now rivalling the biggest names in fitness?
We’ll be watching closely.
