Dubai, United Arab Emirates

The Barry's Bootcamp Story

Barry’s Bootcamp proudly proclaims their cardio and strength hybrid training to be the ‘best workout in the world’, and have built a large and loyal global following.

Founded in 1998 in Los Angeles by Barry Jay, Barry’s Bootcamp became a pioneer of the boutique fitness scene and one of its most recognized brands.

After steady growth during its first decade, Barry’s opened its first international location in Norway in 2011, followed by London two years later. There are now currently seven locations in London, with single locations in both Manchester and Liverpool.

The famous ‘red room’ has since expanded to over 70 locations across the globe in 14 countries including Singapore, Australia, UAE, Qatar, as well as other regions in Europe.

The company is now headed by former Barry’s instructor Joey Gonzalez, who is overseeing their further expansion with a mix of franchise and corporate-owned locations.

How Did Barry's Bootcamp DIFC Score Overall?

The full client experience at Barry’s Bootcamp DIFC was impressive, achieving The Fit Guide 4-Star Award.

The class was also very strong and has won our 4-Star Class Experience Award.

The Highlights

Our coach’s positive energy was a particular highlight of the visit, as well as the world-class facilities and studio space.

What Our Evaluator Had To Say

“The coach’s good vibes were infectious.”

“First-timers were well taken care of and the induction to the Barry’s concept was very helpful in setting me up for a great session.”

“The club featured many impressive branding features, both striking and subtle.”

What to Expect From A Barry's Bootcamp Session

Try a session in the famous ‘red room’ and you’ll see it’s so much more than treadmill running and weights. The red lights, the pumping music, and the strong presence of the instructors all come together to create one of the most memorable experiences in fitness.

Offering both 50 and 60-minute sessions, a typical Barry’s class involves coach-led treadmill running alternating with dumbbell and bodyweight strength work on “the floor”.

Each day’s strength work has a different focus, with some days serving up ‘Full Body’ strength and others focusing on specific areas such as ‘Chest, Back and Abs’ and ‘Abs and Ass’. For those that prefer strength work, Barry’s offers the ‘double floor’ option, which skips the treadmill and doubles up on the weights.

The Reception Service

During our pre-visit phone call to the branch, questions about the club and concept were answered enthusiastically by a friendly member of staff.

On arrival, the reception team was friendly, warm and welcoming, offering us a verbal orientation of the space. The strong service continued after the class, with the receptionist offering us another complimentary class, as we’d “smashed it”, and recommending some other top coaches to try out.

The Class Experience

Barry’s Bootcamp DIFC received The Fit Guide 4-Star Class Experience Award, making it one of Dubai’s stand-out offerings.

The class started well with a well-delivered and friendly induction. Our coach took care to get to know all the newcomers, if we had injuries, and if we’d tried a Barry’s-style session before. She displayed positive energy and vibes throughout and looked like she really wanted to deliver a great session. The class ended well with a nicely delivered cooldown to chilled music.

The Equipment And Studio

The equipment and studio were of the usual world-class Barry's standard, with a powerful sound system, the trademark “red room” lighting effects and high-end Woodway treadmills.

The Facilities And Public Areas

Workout and shower towels were provided free of charge. Lockers were provided with number locks. Free water refill stations were available.

The public areas, as you would expect from Barry's, were exceptional. The reception area was spacious and beautifully designed, with many impressive branding features, both striking and subtle. The changing rooms, whilst lacking some of the spectacular design elements you sometimes see at other Barry’s clubs, were clean, spacious and well-equipped.

Digital And Technology

The brand’s social media pages were updated frequently and helped provide our evaluator with a clear picture of what to expect in the “red room”. Confirmation emails sent to the client combined with the simple booking process ensured our evaluator felt prepared and excited for their class.
